I enjoyed the stories and am just leaving a minimal review because the Audible app no longer lets me leave a rating without writing something;)

If you’re a writer of some sort in the fiction world you will definitely benefit from this and learn from Burrows here.

So I'm writing at least 15 words so I can put my review up.
I listened to it all during a single weekend. I was enthralled and couldn't stop. My only gripe is from what I know about Lonnie Frisbie, I think they left out a lot of his involvement and contribution and otherwise just kinda briefly "admitted" he had a double life and died of AIDS in the 1990s, but otherwise I felt like from what I've learned about this period, more could have been mentioned of his real involvement in the Jesus Revolution, but I get this was Greg Laurie's book, so I can't fault him for that.

EXCELLENT narrator.

I recently listened to this audiobook in exchange for an honest and candid review through Audiobook Boom. I was not required to give it a favorable review. That said, shortly after receiving the code to purchase this, I started the book and could not stop listening to it almost any chance I had where I didn't need to concentrate on reading or writing.

First, the author is very likable, encouraging, down to earth, and I'm a sucker for books narrated with a British accent.

Second, he shares a lot of insights from personal stories and experiences, particular technology or software he prefers, and for the most part this stuff was good, but being a couple years old, some of his suggestions are already outdated. For example, there was one instance he was sharing about video conversion software he prefers, and I thought of something else even faster and better that hosts the files online for you while you're recording them, But I only learned about Loom this year, and constantly use it whenever I can. So, one can't fault the author for that. It's the nature of sharing things that are not evergreen in a book whose topic for the most part is evergreen.

I'm not sure I felt the book has an appropriate title, as the book was not ultimately what I was expecting, but it was still great stuff.

As a writer myself, I am always looking for ways to improve my craft, but not only that, how to have my writing flow more easily. I was excited about listening to this when I came across it on Audiobook Boom (and I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review), but after getting about halfway through, I realized this was a title that might best serve the reader to read rather than listen.

For example, there are many exercises and moments of pause where the reader can take a moment to write out or journal what the author just discussed. Although in the audio there are moments where there's a sound effect/notification, I felt these moments work better in reading/writing, as I was often commuting or doing something else while listening and knew I would not go back and redo these exercises.

But the book delivers.
As a writer of several non-fiction works of my own, and a blogger for 15 years, I've learned repeatedly how transformative the writing experience can be to ME, the one writing. So this audiobook will serve both newbies and seasoned pros. That being said, I failed to realize going in that this book on writing would be more "holistic" and not mechanical necessarily, which, though jarring at first (due to my misunderstanding and mismatched expectations), that quickly became what I enjoyed most about it and came to appreciate.

If I were to gripe about anything, I'd do so with hesitation as I'm a fellow narrator and I never knock anybody else's work or delivery, but I felt like the narrator could have used more emotion and intonation. When I listen to samples of other books she's narrated on Audible, it's evident this may be her narrator style. I loved this narrator's voice, though.

Recommended.

Challenging and provocative read

This audiobook was very well read by the narrator, and there were a lot of very thought-provoking points throughout the book.

However, there was also a lot of very unnecessary sanctimony on the author’s part. This was exemplified in an early chapter when the author tried to suggest social media and the connectedness of the internet coupled with people’s selfish desires are the reason for the growing “done movement” (Christians who no longer attend some kind of weekly meeting). Huh?

Sometimes I had no idea what the author’s point was or how he reached some of his conclusions. Other than those kinds of things, of which it seemed like each chapter had at least once, this is a very important book for believers to read or listen to, IMO.

Perhaps the author should have chosen a different title than to emphasize just the “phone” because overall, this book was more about how the internet, in general, is changing us and not just smartphones since many of his opinions related to the internet and social media as a whole.

This is worth a read. Just chew the meat and spit out the cud as you digest it.

Loved The Narrator's Voice

What made the experience of listening to Hidden Power of Speaking in Tongues the most enjoyable?

The Narrator had a nice velvety reading voice. I enjoyed that. I had read the print version of this title over 12 years ago, and decided to refresh my memory and give this book a listen. I appreciated some of the author's points I didn't remember or had forgotten over the years since I first read this.

What about David Stafford’s performance did you like?

I loved his voice and presentation, but it seems he didn't know how to pronounce some words. Early in the book when I noticed it, I didn't think much of it until I realized every time he would pronounce certain words, he'd get them wrong. I was surprised how often and how many words he simply either didn't know how to pronounce or chose to pronounce the way he did. Otherwise, I'd listen to anything he read if I come across other audio books I'm interested in that he happens to be the narrator for.

One of the most comprehensive books on healing.

Would you listen to God's Will is Always Healing again? Why?

For a full disclaimer Josh and I are friends, and I've interviewed him about this book on my podcast.
Since I've read a lot of healing books, and have written on the subject myself, I opted to get a copy of the audio version through a free trial with Audible. That being said, I truly really enjoyed it.

What sets Josh's book apart? It might be because I enjoyed hearing him narrate his own work, but Josh has clearly done his research (the written version is over 400 page!). But that alone does not make a book good or theologically accurate. Josh's passion for seeing people set free, and removing any and every obstacle that hinders the believer's freedom is clear and obvious throughout. I truly believe decades from now when the entire Body of Christ is naturally walking in healing and setting the captives free, we won't need books like this for convincing people God's will is always healing. Instead books like this will be used as a great resource for all of the Scriptural basis for healing in one place.

I unhesitatingly recommend this as one of the best books on the subject, hands down.
