Shadow grove is back!

If you liked the Madison Kate series, this book is a great start to the next series set in shadow grove. Full of the strong dark characters any tate James fan has come to expect in her novels. Can’t wait to read the next installment of this series.
As this is slated to be a 4 book series, this book does end in a massive cliffhanger (much like the Madison Kate books do) so if you can’t wait to see how it ends, you may want to hold out until the next book is out.

Disappointing

I read the first book and really enjoyed it, but this one just fell flat, I enjoyed the crazy amount of puns in the first one but this one took it to an extreme that was more annoying than anything else. The constant inner feminist monologue while the main character is slut shaming her friend was infuriating. I’ve enjoyed other books by these authors but this just wasn’t my cup of tea.

One of my favorite books from half moon hollow

This series has been hit or miss for me. Some of the books have been great, and others felt like they missed the mark. This book was full of likable characters and was probably my favorite so far. If you didn’t like the last book (rebound vampire) I would suggest still giving this one a try.

The opposite of empowerment

Molly harpers writing style lends herself to strong female characters who take control of their own destiny. This book is not that. The main romance in this book was much too close to stories of emotionally or physically abusive relationships for me to consider it romance.

Not a fan of the voice acting

Although I love this voice actors work on a ton of other books, the accent she chose for Cal I found to be both distracting and inconsistent. It changed from scene to scene and even line by line. I usually love her work, but this one missed the mark.

Weakest of the Jane Jameson stories

The idea behind this storyline is interesting, but as it unfolded I found the plot lines to not be as satisfying as the previous Jane Jameson stories. Personally the ending felt convenient and an easy way to 'wrap things up'. This book focused more on plot devices than character growth and I think that's what I found most disappointing.
