Historia
In John Adams: A Life, Ferling offers a compelling portrait of one of the giants of the Revolutionary era. Drawing on extensive research, Ferling depicts a reluctant revolutionary, a leader who was deeply troubled by the warfare that he helped to make, and a fiercely independent statesman. Bringing to life an exciting time, an age in which Adams played an important political and intellectual role. this book is a singular biography of the man who succeeded George Washington in the presidency and shepherded the fragile new nation through the most dangerous of times.

Could not get past 2nd chapter
Revisado: 07-18-24
I had to stop listening before I even finish the second chapter. The story seemed too depressing to continue. The characters seemed very bland, and the narrator did nothing to bring out any type of personality or true emotion from any of the characters it was difficult to determine when the entries from the diary were being read, verses other parts of the story. Certainly not the authors best work.

Historia
H.G. Wells is best known for his science fiction, but some of his greatest works were in other genres. "The Passionate Friends" is a love story. It also is a story about dreams, despair, jealousy, sex, the struggle against social convention, the future of civilization, and much much more. It is written by a father to his son, "not indeed to the child you are now, but to the man you are going to be." He writes it so that one day, perhaps when he is dead, his grown son can read it and rediscover him as a friend and equal.

Good story
Revisado: 05-17-24
I was introduced to this title because I had first watched the movie with the same name. It was actually one of my favorite movies and I have watched it many times.
With that said, this book is poorly narrated, which subtracts from the experience.
And like books that are turned into movies, the movie summarizes many of the details .
My favorite part of the movie is the end which varies from this book .
Overall, this is a good and engaging story, and I enjoyed listening to it .
