Historia
In the world of American serial killers, few can beat Donald Henry "Peewee" Gaskins when it comes to depravity, cunning, and quite possibly the sheer number of murders. In this true crime book about an infamous serial killer, you will delve into the mind of a truly twisted man who claimed scores of victims from the 1950s until 1982, which made him the most prolific serial killer in South Carolina history and quite possibly in all of American history!

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 05-02-21
This book might have been interesting, but I’ll never know. Less than about three minutes into it, I had to stop. The narrator mispronounced very basic words which was so distracting I had to stop. Does anyone listen to them to proof them before they are sold?
Absolutely terrible

Historia
Partners in the Los Angeles Police Department, they’re haunted by terrifying dark secrets of the nightwatch - shared predawn drink and sex sessions they call choir practice. Each wears his cynicism like a bulletproof jockstrap - each has his horror story, his bad dream, his night shriek. He is afraid of his friends–he is afraid of himself.

Great Book- Terrible Reader
Revisado: 10-31-20
This is a Wambaugh classic- I read it when it first came out and is a gritty, sometimes hilarious glimpse into the world of police officers almost anywhere. The narrator, however, was very distracting and the voice characterizations were horrible. All the white cops sounded like they were from New Jersey- this is LA, not Hoboken. Great story, loses something in the translation

Historia
This incredible story shows how John Douglas tracked and participated in the hunt for one of the most notorious serial killers in U.S. history. For 31 years a man who called himself BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill) terrorized the city of Wichita, Kansas, sexually assaulting and strangling a series of women, taunting the police with frequent communications, and bragging about his crimes to local newspapers and TV stations.

Like Listening to an Accountant Read a Phone Book
Revisado: 07-12-19
John Douglas and Johnny Dodd do a tremendous job putting this decades long story together in a manner that flows quite well. It is packed with details-many not known to the public before now-and first person interviews. It is a terrific book, with one-rather large- downfall. The reader, because it is not narrated, it is read. And poorly at that. It is like listening to an accountant read the phone book and he didn't even bother to learn how to pronounce basic words (liberry, for example), let alone less common words, like Quantico (he pronounces it KwanTEE co.). All in a boring, flat monotone. The only reason I listened to the entire book was because the story was so good. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say I hope this reader has a regular job, because this clearly isn't his thing.

Historia
A single company of US paratroopers—calling themselves the "Chosen Few"—arrived in eastern Afghanistan in late 2007 hoping to win the hearts and minds of the remote mountain people and extend the Afghan government's reach into this wilderness. Instead, they spent the next fifteen months in a desperate struggle, living under almost continuous attack, forced into a slow and grinding withdrawal, and always outnumbered by Taliban fighters descending on them from all sides.

Great Story With a Cast of Thousands
Revisado: 10-09-18
This could have been a terrific story, however, it jumped from place to place and introduced 10 or 15 new characters at a time. I had great difficulty keeping track of who was who in the story.

Historia
The Last Punisher is a bold, no-holds-barred first-person account of the Iraq War. With wry humor and moving testimony, Kevin Lacz tells the story of his tour in Iraq with SEAL Team Three, the warrior elite of the navy. This legendary unit, known as The Punishers, included Chris Kyle ( American Sniper), Mike Monsoor, Ryan Job, and Marc Lee. These brave men were instrumental in securing the key locations in the pivotal 2006 Battle of Ramadi, told with stunning detail in this book.

Terrific Book-Horrible Narrator
Revisado: 08-03-18
I could only bear book this until chapter five-it is an engrossing book, but the narrator's cadence was absolutely distracting, not to mention annoying. He sounds like a sportscaster reading for a weekly highlights film-every sentence starts out like an exciting announcement, only to be brought down to an unexpressive monotone at the end. EVERY sentence. Horrible, Horrible

Historia
In his finest, most compelling blend of wild humor and powerful drama, Joseph Wambaugh leads us into the Hollywood scene to demonstrate the effects of that heady, amoral world on four sets of police partners enmeshed in the glamour and the grime, the hustle and the horror. They live and work in a dizzying mix of moguls and starlets, elaborate parties, outrageous and sordid actions; a place where sex and drugs are open and the big deals are undercover.

Wambaugh is GREAT- Narrator, Not So Much
Revisado: 01-12-17
Joseph Wambaugh is THE master of the LAPD novel and has been since the 70's with New Centurions. The Glitter Dome has a great cast of characters, but the narrator made them all sound like whiny dinks. The voice characterizations are lame to non existent and the narrator mispronounced simple words like "valet" and names like "Robles". Great story, terrible reader.
