Good story and narration, annoying music
Revisado: 09-10-23
Another excellent Easy Rawlins detective story. I loved the narration, Michael Boatman is excellent. The music was jarring and often inappropriate, the novel would have been greatly improved without the music.

Historia
A group of pretend adventurers suit up for a campaign called "The South Seas Treasure Game". As in the early role-playing games, there are dungeon masters, warriors, magicians, and thieves. The difference? At Dream Park, a futuristic fantasy theme park full of holographic attractions and the latest in VR technology, they play in an artificial enclosure that has been enhanced with special effects, holograms, actors, and a clever story line. The players get as close as possible to truly living their adventure.

A fun read, especially for gamers
Revisado: 01-16-23
I read this years ago when it was first published. It was a good read then and seemed really innovative. On listening to it now, I've enjoyed it again. The book hasn't aged perfectly, but it is far from seeming very far off.
The plot was interesting. Its a murder mystery wrapped in a futuristic theme park live action role playing game. As for the Audible presentation, the narration is fine, but not great. I'm a bit annoyed by the narrator's emphasis on the word "Park" whenever he says Dream Park. I think the plot was pretty good and the clues were there to determine who done it, but it wasn't obvious. The game descriptions were fun, but there were a few things that don't seem reasonable as far as safety concerns for the in game weapons. I'd have liked a few more details on the in game weapons and game tech.

Historia
Easy Rawlins is out of the investigation business and as far away from crime as a black man can be in 1960s Los Angeles. But living around desperate men means life gets complicated sometimes. When an old friend gets in enough trouble to ask for Easy's help, he finds he can't refuse. Bad Boy Brawly Brown is the masterful crime novel that Walter Mosley's legions of fans have been waiting for. This book marks the return of a master at the top of his form.

Historia
Six remarkable stories from a master of modern science fiction. Octavia E. Butler's classic "Bloodchild," winner of both the Nebula and Hugo awards, anchors this collection of incomparable stories and essays. "Bloodchild" is set on a distant planet where human children spend their lives preparing to become hosts for the offspring of the alien Tlic. Sometimes the procedure is harmless, but often it is not. Also included is the Hugo Award - winning "Speech Sounds," about a near future in which humans must adapt after an apocalyptic event robs them of their ability to speak.

Good interesting speculative fiction
Revisado: 06-11-22
The stories were all interesting and mostly entertaining. Most were thought provoking. Many were like Twilight Zone episodes. I'm not sure I'd consider them all SF. Overall a good listen.

A great listen!
Revisado: 05-17-22
Will Smith is always entertaining! I started listening to this audiobook about a week or so before the infamous Academy Awards Chris Rock slap. Let's just say it was perfect timing. it was great hearing how Will rose to fame as a first as a rapper, than as a TV star and finally as a movie star. it was enlightening hearing about his, life, his career, his marriage and family. Definitely not an ordinary guy.
The story is engaging, the narration is awesome, and its a fun listen. sure there are sad parts but overall very uplifting!

This adventure story has everything you could want: the good guy, some bad guys, the girl, sword fighting, revenge, romance, of course a happy ending, and rodents of unusual size. Join Westley the plucky farm boy, Buttercup the beautiful young maiden, Inigo Montoya the driven, embittered swordsman, and many other strange and unusual characters in this swashbuckling tale of good-natured silliness. It is read by Rob Reiner, who directed the motion picture based on this classic tale.

A wonderful story, surprisingly like the movie!
Revisado: 12-21-21
I usually prefer reading the book first but I have seen the movie many times and love it. The story is so much like the book. I didn't initially like Rob Reiner's narration narration but it grew on me. I thought Peter Faulks reading of the books passages during the movie was so wonderful. I'm not sure if the audio book would have been so easy to visualize if I hadn't seen the movie. Regardless, its a marvelous story and I loved the listen. Highly recommended.

Not a good listen
Revisado: 12-09-21
Most of the stories don't even have Drizzt as the protagonist. The storytelling ranges from engaging to mediocre. The narration is all over the place! They just tried to get recognizable names rather than great narrators. I liked Michael Chiklis's narration, but didn't care for the story. One female narrator who I didn't recognize her name, voiced male characters fine but did a horrible job with Catti-Brie. It was so bad I needed to stop listening and move on to the next story. Overall, it just wasn't that good. I think I would have liked it better if all the stories had Drizzt as the main character or at least has stronger direct ties. I did enjoy the "Guehwyvar" which was interesting and well narrated.
I'd recommend all but the most ardent Drizzt fans give this title a hard pass!

A good story well performed
Revisado: 10-17-21
The story was an interesting science fiction "murder mystery". The writing is good though definitely dated. This story was one of the best of the trilogy, though I slightly favor "Caves of Steel" as the best in the 3 part series. The partnership Daniel. Bailey and robot Daneel is engaging and well voice acted. Definitely a good listen.
