The Absolute BEST of the Series!
Revisado: 09-30-20
I couldn’t stop listening! We FINALLY get to hear Seth’s story and all of my questions about where gifted ones came from and what Seth actually is, were finally answered! I thought she’d NEVER tell us.
This book filled me with such emotion. <3
Now I have to buy the whole series in physical book form!

I Laughed Out Loud
Revisado: 11-14-18
I don't know if this is my favorite of the series, because they are all so damn good, but it definitely had me the most actively entertained.
Emma's Story is full of humor and my favorite kind of attraction. This would definitely classify as a romcom in book form I think. Emma and Fin are so perfect for each other and you will find yourself rooting for them from the start.
I will say that I love the way the author chose to tell the story in two parts. We finally get to see, from a first hand perspective, exactly what went on when Jake was taken all those years ago. I will say, however, that I wasn't into the flashbacks in the beginning. But as they progressed, I I fell further and further into them. I'd say the only reason I wasn't a fan in the beginning was because I didn't like the interruption to the story of the characters I was becoming entranced in. In the end, I was happy with the choices the author made.
This is definitely a must read.
It is one of those books you will find yourself wishing it was possible to go back and read it again for the first time.

Historia
Quiet and aloof rock star Jake McKallister and outspoken, vivacious college student Casey Caldwell are polar opposites: Casey is bubbly and talkative; Jake is reclusive. Casey enjoyed a picturesque childhood; Jake’s childhood could only be described as a well-publicized nightmare. Jake’s life revolves around music, and Casey can’t carry a tune.

A Cake Better Than Most
Revisado: 11-10-18
A completely different take on the love story. One that is relatable and more realistic than most. You'll find yourself rooting for the characters even though they may not always make the right decisions.
That being said, THIS author, unlike sooooo many others, doesn't make you want to scream at the characters for being stupid! That may sound odd, but there are soooooo many love stories that I've read where the main characters only obstacle in getting the relationship they desire is their stupid assumptions about what the other person wants or would do. There is a tiny hint of that in this story, but it is always short lived. I love that J. Bengtsson gives her characters more credit than that.

Couldn't Stop Listening!!!
Revisado: 11-10-18
This book was entertaining AF. I would even go so far as to say that it was Better than Cake.
While this story branches off from Cake, it is not completely necessary to Cake before reading this story. That being said, if you DO choose to read this story before the other, there will be some spoilers to Cake.
I loved hearing Kyle's story and the author did an extraordinary job creating a book that is super relatable and never gets dull. I just couldn't stop listening as I wanted to know everything there was to know about these characters.

A Fresh Take on the Romance Novel (BAD Narrator)
Revisado: 10-09-18
I picked this up just quickly looking for something for my work commute. It started off slow and I didn't really wanna keep listening because the female narrator was HORRIBLE. She's so unnatural sounding. No one talks or even thinks like she reads. Her inflection was always wrong and it made me not want to hear what she was saying.
Thankfully, I kept listening because I didn't have time to look for another book and needed something to cover the silence in the morning.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story as is wasn't the cookie cutter romance that I see everywhere these days.
It's a definite must listen!

All he knows with certainty is that the soothing voice and presence of the woman moving around above enables him to endure the agony of his wounds. And he will do whatever it takes to be with her.

Revisado: 09-08-18
I’ve missed the immortal guardian series. This was the best of them yet. Stanislav’s story brought tears to my eyes, put a lump in my throat, and warmed my heart.
This is my new favorite book.
Ps,
This narrator is also the best I’ve heard. She transforms her voice and accent so completely with each character that you forget it’s the same person reading.

Female Narrator is HORRIBLE!! + Stupid Female Lead
Revisado: 03-11-18
The first thing I noticed was that the female narrator, Maxine Mitchell, has no business narrating stories. Her inflection is abominable and she reads the story like a news caster updating you on the disasters in New Orleans. Her chosen inflection makes no sense whatsoever and is repetitive for no reason. She makes it sound like Soraya is constantly confused. The purpose of inflection if to inform the listener of the mood of what is happening. Mitchell would use surprised tones to express normal daily occurrences, for example. There is absolutely NO way to gauge the mood of the story just by listening to her. I don't ever want to listen to another book narrated by her.
Joe Arden, on the other hand, seemed to know exactly what he was doing. His narration was the saving grace for this read.
About the Story
Okay, so when I started reading this book I really liked the direction it was going. It was like a 50 shades with a bit of a different spin. But when I got to the last couple chapters and Soraya was being fucking stupid, I put the book down. I am so sick of reading about people in relationship making the insanely idiotic decision to push the love of their life away, making them believe they cheated or don't love them, all because they think it's what's best for the other person. NEVER DENY A PERSON THE RIGHT TO DECIDE WHAT IS BEST FOR THEM!!!! This is NEVER okay. 99.9% of the time you're so wrong to the degree that it actually ruins the person's life. If you love someone, don't rob them of the right to make their own life decisions.
GAAAHHHHHHH STUPID PEOPLE!!! This is NOT entertaining to read about! It just pisses me off so much that I get super stressed reading the book. I want to read to be entertained; not stressed. I actually wish Graham would have slept with Janine and Soraya would have caught them in the act. That's what Soraya's dumb ass deserved.

Great Story but Hard to Hear
Revisado: 12-10-17
This is a great read! I think I found a new author to stalk. :p
I enjoyed the fact that this story explores a supernatural subculture that we have not seen before. I am so used to reading about stereotypical supernatural beings, but this is different. I've heard the term mage before, but never with this definition.
Furthermore, I enjoyed that this is not a typical romance novel and that the focus is elsewhere with simple romantic undertones. I enjoy a story with a strong female protagonist and a story that could stand on its own if all romance were removed. This book is definitely that.
I can't wait to continue the series.
ABOUT THE NARRATOR
First impressions of Nicole Poole were good. She has a talent for voices and creating extremely distinguishable characters. Her portrayal of a male voice blew me away as it was so believable. That being said, her downfall was volume. There were way to many instances in which I couldn't understand what she was saying because her voice was like a whisper. No matter how high the volume was, I had to strain to hear. This is why I gave her such a low rating on this title. She really needs to be cognizant of her volume. I feel like this took a lot away from the title.
