He wants to be a good person but fears he is a sociopath, and for years he has suppressed his dark side through a strict system of rules designed to mimic "normal" behavior. Then a demon begins stalking his small town and killing people one by one, and John is forced to give in to his darker nature in order to save them.

Lots of promise
Revisado: 04-08-10
Another vote for a bad choice of narration, the 'Robert Stack' reviewer was right on target. This is supposed to be a 15 year old boy and because of the disconnect between the narration and the story I had a hard time keeping that in mind.
Overall, kind of a silly story that had a good Dexter-like premise.
I'll purchase the next one if there is another, but that will be the last chance for me.

Glad I downloaded it
Revisado: 10-02-08
I knew nothing about the Life of Pi before I got this download other than someone mentioned it on a website during a "Tell me your favorite books" thread, and a number of people agreed.
I loved the story, and the narrator brought it to life vividly.
I recommend you read for yourself before seeing other reviews, I think many read too much or to little into into it.
Take the journey, and decide for yourself what is real and what is not.

Gemma

Historia
Gemma is the story of a child abduction written from two widely divergent points of view: 12 year-old Gemma and Hazen Wook, the 36-year-old man who abducts her. Hazen is a violent pedophile, a sexual obsessive, and Tilly does not white-wash or sanitize his thoughts in any way. This book is scary and not for the faint of heart.

I just finished this audiobook (in record time;) I didn't want to hear anymore, but I couldn't stop either. I have to be honest; about 2 hours into the book I thought to myself, "What kind of sick b*%$ is this?" (referencing Ms. Tilly)
Meg Tilly's writing and performance was amazing - I felt I was with her character every traumitizing and hope filled step of the way.
This book is not for the faint of heart, and I can understand the reviewer with children that couldn't finish it. This book doesn't cut close to the bone - it saws to the marrow.

Say the name 'Enron' and most people believe they've heard all about the story that imperiled a presidency, destroyed a marketplace, and changed Washington and Wall Street forever. But in the hands of Kurt Eichenwald, the players we think we know and the business practices we think have been exposed are transformed into entirely new, and entirely gripping, material.

I was hestitant about downloading this book at first, my only real knowledge of the Enron story was from the DVD, "Enron - The Smartest Guys in the Room." To be honest, I found the DVD lacking in the detail I needed to understand what happened; I was bored quickly.
This account delivers! Another reviewer stated that all of the blame was placed on Fastow, I have to disagree. Fastow took advantage of an environment that allowed his actions to go unchecked and capitalized on that advantage. We've all worked for people like that (although not to this extreme, I would hope.)
The account is even-handed; there is plenty of blame to go around and the telling of the story is completely engrossing.

Julia Sweeney says she was a "happy Catholic girl" when, one day, she walked into church and signed up for a Bible-study course. "What an eye opener that was!" she says. Equally comedic and insightful, Letting Go of God is Sweeney's brilliant one-woman show about her struggle with her faith.

I knew who Pat was but never watched SNL, so I was first introduced to Julia Sweenie when I rented "And God Said Ha!" because it was produced by Tarrantino. Although not a typical Tarrantino production, I loved it just the same so downloading this was an easy decision.
Julia Sweenie is a fantastic storyteller, and has true talent for expressing the humor inherent in life.
Highly recommended.

Those King fans looking for Cujo, Carrie, or The Shining will probably not like this book. Those looking for The Green Mile or Shawshank Redemption probably will.
I truly loved this book and found myself thinking over and over about my husband and our crazy quirks. Many days after listening and getting home after my daily commute I hugged him a little harder.

Revisado: 06-05-07
If you've read anything by Jean Auel, you'll have a good idea of the pace of this book. The story is wonderful, but I don't need to know every single detail about the surroundings to get the mood of a particular scene. You might find yourself dozing a few times, so be careful about listening to this while driving.

Makes you think
Revisado: 06-05-07
I generally decide if a book is good or not based on how much I think about the story days, weeks, or months later. It's been a couple of months since I read this, and it has grown on me over time. The characters were realistic and multi-dimensional. Worth a download.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Good Book
Revisado: 06-05-07
I'm not a sci-fi fan, but I did like this book quite a bit. The plot was engrosing, and it was difficult to put down even though the climax was pretty transparent. My only complaint is that it should have ended sooner; too much fluff at the end.

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly 20 years ago.

Glad I Did
Revisado: 06-05-07
This is one of those books that I had on my list to read "someday" and I'm glad I did. I didn't find it as earth shattering as some reviews I've read, but it was good mostly because it was a real and not fiction. Actually hearing Morrie's voice affected me much more than the narrators - a real reason to get this from audible rather than reading a hard copy.
