Writing is a bit rough but story is engaging

Maybe it’s the narrator…

I LOVE Breene, but not this book. I kept thinking that if N. Poole had narrated, I might have liked it better. As it is, the tone the narrator set is one of just always being annoyed. The story just doesn’t flow very well either. Also, there isn’t a good romantic payoff. I’m sure the series finally gets there, but I’m not invested enough to stick with it.

Good writers don't keep repeating themselves

I enjoy this series, and have endured the droning on and on unnecessarily. It can take 3 chapters to get to a point that should take a paragraph. It’s aggravating and this installment is the worst of them all. I’m honestly not sure I can endure the next book. The story is cliche AF… but, here I am still listening 🤣
Update: I couldn’t finish the book. It just got worse as it went on. I am relieved to say that I won’t be moving on to the next installment. If anyone is looking for the most epic romantic fantasy series, I recommend Jennifer Armentrout’s Blood and Ash series.

Poor writing. Horrible narrator. I could say a lot of insulting things about this book, but I’ll refrain. If you have more than 2 brain cells and any dignity around being a woman, this isn’t the book for you.

I loved this series, but this third book just felt rushed and not fully realized. It’s like getting a summary of the story instead of all the great details. Things also just fell too neatly into place. I am disappointed, but I am glad to have found the series.
