Historia
Setting aside the pervasive material bias of science and lifting the obscuring fog of religious sectarianism reveals a surprisingly clear unity of science and religion. The explanations of transcendent phenomena given by saints, sages, and near-death experiencers are fully congruent with scientific discoveries in the fields of relativity, quantum physics, medicine, M-theory, neuroscience, and quantum biology. The Physics of God describes the intersections of science and religion.

When you twist facts, your narrative falls apart
Revisado: 08-18-21
I came to this book after listening to Bruce Greyson’s book After. Greyson did a very admirable job in his 40+ year career investigating NDE (Near Death Experineces). Greyson’s book left me full of hope and wonder of what can exist beyond this physical realm. I was hoping for a continuation down that path and learning wonderful things. Most of the first three chapters of this book, you have to suffer through. A long drawn out defense on how “Religious Science” is not taken seriously by “Materialistic Science” and how “new” science is starting to see the evidence of religion. After that the book gets interesting.
I had big hopes and really enjoyed the tapestry that was being woven with the fabric of our reality being an illusion and the universe was multilayered and we were following a predesigned template. I listened to the whole audio book once and went back a second time to start fact checking. Unfortunately these authors decided to change facts to support their narrative and once that happens, their entire deck of cards falls apart. A big part of the tapestry and a cornerstone of the authors claim was that the CIA demonstrated that human minds are interconnected and psychic phenomena was proven, statistically relevant and highly accurate. Here in lies the first problem, these authors read the results of the “Blue Ribbon” panel mentioned in the book and selectively chose the first few lines which said that there was a statistically significant effect in the laboratory setting, while completely ignoring the other parts of that document that indicated the results were vague and ambiguous. Wikipedia also describes project mangers changing data, lack of peer review and a host of issues tainting the results. These authors willingly mislead the readers by changing facts to fit the story they wish to tell. And these are the guys on Gods side. After that slight of hand and trickery, you can’t listen to the rest of the book and take them seriously. They also take great liberties with the the theory of quantum mechanics and assuming concepts that define the reality of atoms and sub-atomic particles translate to larger objects. There is no proof of that at this time. This story was very entertaining and would make a great movie, but beyond that, this seems to be a lot of conjecture and BS!

Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost. A long slog through a decent but not great book.

Any additional comments?
If your a fan of the first two books, it goes without saying that you have to read this one as well. It is worth the time but I agree with others that Sanderson tried to hard on this book and it just wasn’t as good as the first two. Kaladin was reduced to a minor role in the book which was disappointing and again, I agree with another reviewer who pointed out his character actually went backward in development. Delinar’s character was the main focus of the book but his character is just not that endearing and is kind of meh. The 3 main hero’s of the series, Shallon, Kaladin, and Delinar all continually suffered debilitating bouts of depression and self doubt at times of crisis. Instead of the tough get going, it was get the mentally weak a box of tissues. This was so consistant and similar between the characters it got old and tired. I might be a bit overly critical as over all it was a good book that was mostly entertaining but so much was left on the table. Still it helped me get through the commute and it was worth the credits.

This series is very addicting! One of the best.
Revisado: 08-15-16
What did you like best about this story?
The characters are all really likeable. The writing takes you from tender moments between characters to conflicts with evil, our team of heros usually prevail and it is just plain fun. I agree with a previous commentor that the success of the goverment in this book was a bit of a downer and was why I only gave it four stars. One more note, if you have such a tiny little mind that you can not handle a work of fiction that includes concepts of Heven and Hell that may not be biblical, you might not like this, but get a grip. Its fiction, not an attempt to redefine your religion.
Have you listened to any of James Patrick Cronin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have truly enjoyed Cronin's naration in this series. He is excellent for this type of book.

Story was interesting but sooooo drawn out
Revisado: 12-25-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It took Reacher over 10 hours in this audio before he started to defending himself. This became very irritating after awhile. Parts of the plot were just not credible enough i.e. A person on the way to blow up people, the good guys know of four possible cities for the bomb, yet they tell no one so they can get assistance looking in all all locations but instead they guess where he's going. That's irresponsable and really stupid!
Would you recommend Die Trying to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes with a lot of caveats.
Any additional comments?
The story was good and compelled me to spend the time to finish it but it took so long for the good guys to start fighting back, the book was actually putting me in a bad mood. I really like Jack Reachers character but I am not sure I want to read more in the series.

If you like Pendergast, you will love this!
Revisado: 08-01-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
For me anytime Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston collaborate on a story, its always good. This book is no exception. I think the few negative reviews on this book are mostly from people who started the series with this book, and didn't get the whole picture. Pendergast is simply a great mix of intellect and bad ass, somewhere between Sherlock Holmes and James Bond (with out the high tech gadgets). I do wish they would make a movie of this series. If they did he could become the our next movie hero like Bond or Indian Jones. I loved it!
What does Rene Auberjonois bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He adds the perfect vintage accents that really help define Pendergast and his character.

Had potential but this book was just OK for me
Revisado: 03-31-11
The plot was pretty good and the story moved along well enough to keep me listening. The narrator was adequate but it did take a little while to get used to his monotone voice. What really got annoying was the continued ways that the main suspect kept miraculously getting out of grasp of Lou Bolt (the main detective). After a while all the silly mistakes, misfortunate events, and bad decisions from the police officers became kind of silly and I felt like I was stuck in ground hogs day. Other than that, the characters were likeable and the ending was satisfying. Overall the book was ok. If you have a few credits to spare and can't find anything else I would say go for it, but I am not going to race right out to grab another Ridley Pearson book. I'll keep looking for something better.
