Kept my interest
Revisado: 04-24-21
This book was interesting. I enjoyed the storyline and development. I did guess the big twist but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment. The only thing I didn’t like was the narrator’s voice for the main male character. Easy to listen to.

Historia
Brooklyn, 1998. Biggie Smalls was right: Things done changed. But that doesn’t mean Quadir and Jarrell are cool letting their best friend Steph’s music lie forgotten under his bed after he’s murdered - not when his rhymes could turn any Bed-Stuy corner into a party. With the help of Steph’s younger sister, Jasmine, they come up with a plan to promote Steph’s music under a new rap name: the Architect. Soon, everyone wants a piece of him. When his demo catches the attention of a hotheaded music label rep, the trio must prove Steph’s talent from beyond the grave.

I typically read thrillers so this was different for me. I enjoyed it once the story got going. This is the second booked I’ve read from this author and I’d like to check out more. The narrators were great.

Historia
Mary B. Addison killed a baby. Allegedly. She didn't say much in that first interview with detectives, and the media filled in the only blanks that mattered: a white baby had died while under the care of a churchgoing black woman and her nine-year-old daughter. The public convicted Mary, and the jury made it official. But did she do it?

Meh
Revisado: 08-11-20
This was just okay. The last 2ish hours were better. I couldn’t stand the narrator. The narrator’s voice didn’t match that of the main character and it bothered me the whole time. I wouldn’t recommend this book.

Historia
Eva never really wanted to be a mother - and certainly not the mother of a boy who ends up murdering seven of his fellow high school students, a cafeteria worker, and a much-adored teacher who tried to befriend him, all two days before his 16th birthday. Now, two years later, it is time for her to come to terms with marriage, career, family, parenthood, and Kevin’s horrific rampage, in a series of startlingly direct correspondences with her estranged husband, Franklin.

Just okay
Revisado: 06-25-20
This took me a really long time to get through (months). I was never really hooked. The story took a long time to unfold, and even then just was so slow. I wouldn’t recommend it.
