Historia
From trips on private jets and encounters with world leaders to shocking accounts of misogyny and double standards behind the scenes, this searing memoir exposes both the personal and the political fallout when unfettered power and a rotten company culture take hold. In a gripping and often absurd narrative where a few people carelessly hold the world in their hands, this eye-opening memoir reveals what really goes on among the global elite.

Retaliation? Slander?
Revisado: 03-18-25
i had to get my credit back on this book.
But I really tried to learn from the author from her experienceat FB. I went as far as Chapter 8 and it just struck me as being more and more like petty office gossip and backstabbing slander.
Something tells me that this book is more about the author getting revenge against Mark Z and his sister for not accepting her or her requests, perhaps $$?
I realize that there will always be complaints against big corporations but if her main complaint is that they don't believe or practice what they preach? well surprise! you can say that about most politicians and corporations.
Granted I got upset about the censorship at FB especially during Covid but this book seems to be about the author's personal vendetta against FB and her own voice on audible is hard to listen to as you can hear the anger in her narration like she's about to explode.
I only got it because FREE Press Bari Weiss recommended it.

Historia
Inheritance is an audiobook about secrets - secrets within families, kept out of shame or self-protectiveness; secrets we keep from one another in the name of love. It is the story of a woman's urgent quest to unlock the story of her own identity, a story that has been scrupulously hidden from her for more than 50 years, years she had spent writing brilliantly, and compulsively, on themes of identity and family history.

A Victim of Circumstance?
Revisado: 09-23-24
This is a time in history when celebrities and writers see themselves as victims of something. Why? Because that's the crap that editors want to publish. Being a victim, by the way, is definitely NOT a Jewish trait. Jews may be the most attacked, slandered people in the world, but you'll never hear one cry about it. They don't want pity. They simply stand up, roll up their sleeves, and go on living.

Historia
The Democratic Party has changed beyond recognition. Once the party of anti-communism and tax-cutting under President Kennedy, it is now dominated by a surging socialist movement and led by a presidential candidate who vows to “transform” America. In Countdown to Socialism, Congressman Devin Nunes exposes the nexus between the Democratic Party, the mainstream media, and the social media corporations. These three entities cooperate to blast out the Democrats’ message and downplay their extremism while suppressing and censoring conservative points of view.

Historia
In the summer after graduating from college, Suleika Jaouad was preparing, as they say in commencement speeches, to enter “the real world”. She had fallen in love and moved to Paris to pursue her dream of becoming a war correspondent. The real world she found, however, would take her into a very different kind of conflict zone. It started with an itch - first on her feet, then up her legs, like a thousand invisible mosquito bites. Then a trip to the doctor and, a few weeks shy of her 23rd birthday, a diagnosis: leukemia, with a 35 percent chance of survival.

Reflections on Suleika Jaouad's Memoir:
Revisado: 07-14-22
I was SO impressed by Suleika's memoir that I wrote a longish essay titled Reflections on Suleika Jaouad's Memoir: An Essay on the Examined Life and turned it into a kindle book. Feel free to read it. It's only 35 pages kindle edition.

Historia
As China undertakes historic economic reforms, a little girl in the southern city of Guangzhou immerses herself in a world of fantasy and foreign influences while grappling with the mundane vagaries of Communist rule. She happily immigrates to Oakland, California, expecting her new life to be far better. Instead, she discovers crumbling schools, unsafe streets, and racist people. In the land of the free, she comes of age amid the dysfunction of a city's brokenness and learns to hate in the shadows of urban decay. This is the unforgettable story of her journey from China to an American ghetto and how she prevailed.

Best-selling author Thrity Umrigar won the Nieman Fellowship and earned a finalist spot for the PEN/Beyond Margins award with The Space Between Us. Set in modern-day India, this evocative novel follows upper-middle-class Parsi housewife Sera Dubash and 65-year-old illiterate household worker Bhima as they make their way through life. Though separated by their stations in life, the two women share bonds of womanhood that prove far stronger than the divisions of class or culture.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.
