Historia
Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

Infuriating, yet left me wanting more
Revisado: 03-10-24
O’Connor is the king of the cliffhanger. He gave enough to draw me in, but just infuriatingly little enough to keep me questioning, “what will happen next?”
Dialogue that left me inwardly cringing, plot that made me yell aloud in a range of emotions - from disbelief and anger to surprise and relief. A narrative that made me think and consider. As well as enough action to satisfy any Michael Bay fan. What more could you ask of a sequel? One series to which I will return to for the next installment, no matter how many times Rei and the gang might irritate me to no end.
Things I liked:
•Variety of POVs - gave listeners/readers a deeper look into the diverse cast of characters, allowing hints & insights we otherwise wouldn’t have gotten had O’ Connor stuck to a rigid style of solely MC perspectives.
•World building - an ever expanding description of the high-tech universe the characters have begun to explore, and the at times unforgiving rules that structure it. Happy we received some story outside the walls of Galens.
Things I disliked:
•Aria’s accent - I’m aware there was time between the recording of the two books, but what’s the deal with Aria’s change of accent? As for the others, they became far more subtle in general.
•Dialogue - there are times when the conversation, jokes, and the banter between characters made me cringe
•O’Connor’s tendency towards long winded cliffhangers - throughout the book, every time there was some kind of important information about to be dropped; whether that be a CAD’s upgrade rank/spec, a personal revelation, or some other withheld comment, O’ Connor built up the suspense and drew out the situation unnecessarily long. To the point I began pleading aloud for whichever character in question to just spit it out! Fearful anything skipped might be important later. A lot of it the build up was simply redundant, repetitive filler.

Historia
I didn't want to be worshiped like some deity—an instant replacement for the asuras. For so long, these people looked up to the asuras as gods, but the asuras kept trying to kill them. Arthur Leywin has finally returned to the continent of Dicathen, but his home is still firmly in the hands of the enemy. His display of unprecedented power brings hope to his allies and fear to his enemies. It also deeply embroils him in a conflict between the godlike asuras, with Agrona Vritra on one side and Kezess Indrath on the other.

The new narration format
Revisado: 11-18-23
Long time listener (& reader), first time reviewer. A fantastic adaptation for volume 10 of TBATE! I for one enjoyed the new format utilized for the narration. I have heard Travis speak on the troubles that arise from utilizing his voice for the female characters, which have become more common with characters like Caera, Ellie, and Cecilia taking a more prominent role in the story, and I understand why they made the choice to bring in another narrator for those POVs. In fact I really enjoyed Elizabeth Evans performance, and am interested in listening to some of her other work. As for Travis, what can I say, he did an amazing job as usual. Can’t wait for the next volume!

An approved textbook at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry since its first publication, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an indispensable guide to the magical beasts of the wizarding world. It showcases a menagerie of magical creatures, explained enchantingly by noted magizoologist, Newt Scamander, who you may remember from the film series of the same name.

Fantastic Beasts is Fantastic

A great accompaniment to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! Even better with Eddie Redmayne, Newt Scamander himself, narrating! The detail and backstory is fascinating!

Great Listen!
Revisado: 06-20-21
While I’ve enjoyed the previous volumes in the series, Ascension is so far my favorite! Can’t wait for what happens next! Even though I read all of the ebooks on the Kindle app, they are a must have on Audible!

Highly Recommend this Series
Revisado: 05-28-20
The Beginning After the End Book 5: Convergence is yet another example of author TurtleMe’s growing abilities as a writer to not only engage his reader’s but transport them to a magically unique world of his creation, as should be the primary goal of all writers, even more so those of fantasy fiction. Once again Travis Baldree does a superb job to convey the personality and perspectives in every role presented. TurtleMe always leaves me desperate for more! I highly recommend continuing the series with this newest audiobook installment, or listen from the beginning if you have yet to begin the series. If you are a fan of stories with magic, dragons, elves and dwarves (the foundations of the Fantasy genre) and have not yet begun the series, this is the story for you!
