Historia
In God's Battalions, award-winning author Rodney Stark takes on the long-held view that the Crusades were the first round of European colonialism, conducted for land, loot, and converts by barbarian Christians who victimized the cultivated Muslims. To the contrary, Stark argues that the Crusades were the first military response to unwarranted Muslim terrorist aggression.

Maximizing my potential (a goal)
Revisado: 12-05-11
This book has the potential to transform the way you study and teach. There is no silver bullet when it comes to learning but this book has the potential to make you significantly more effective, like many of the people the author uses as examples.
Have you ever wondered what causes a bell curve in a classroom full of very intelligent pupils? The answer is so unexpected yet obvious at least for a group of students learning to play an instrument. I won???t spoil it for you by giving you the answer.
Whether you are instructing yourself or someone else the principles in this book apply. Understand why having a desire to learn and the passion to follow through are essential but only part of the equation. Learn what it takes to not just study or practice but truly use deep practice to its fullest. See how you can be more productive and reduce the time required to practice at the same time.
Happy reading!

Why?
Revisado: 10-19-11
I purchased this book because of its high rating, so I feel compelled to comment.
I began listening with great interest and enjoyment as Wayne explained what seemed good logic about personal healing. Then, about half way through the presentation, I was totally surprised when Christiane started presenting a sexually focused discussion that was laced with condemnation of circumcision.
I don't understand why these two topics were put together and her content makes his seem questionable.

Historia
Successful couples know that harmony and happiness in marriage are not achieved by love alone. There is the other side of the Ephesians 5:33 equation - respect. Yes, a wife needs love. But a husband needs respect. Based on extensive biblical and scientific research, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs reveals the secret to couples meeting each other's deepest needs: Without love she reacts without respect, and without respect he reacts without love and a destructive, vicious cycle begins.

Communicate more effectively
Revisado: 03-21-10
It was very enlightening and enjoyable to read. I found it full of common sense and wit. I gave a copy to each of my adult children for Christmas. Well worth your time if you want to improve or just better understand how males and females perceive the world. If taken to heart, it will undoubtedly improve your understanding and empathy for your spouse, your co-workers, and anyone else you communicate with.

Historia
Instead of the system that the Constitution intended, judges have created a system in which bureaucrats and appointed officials make most of the important policies. While the government claims to be a representative republic, somehow hot-button topics from gay marriage to the allocation of Florida's presidential electors always seem to be decided by unelected judges. What gives them the right to decide such issues? The judges say it's the Constitution.

The federal judiciary has gone rouge
Revisado: 03-21-10
For years, I have been frustrated at the Federal Court's handling of cases that seem to go against what our founding fathers obviously intended. This book opened my eyes to a history of the federal judiciary ignoring our Constitution while at the same time claiming to uphold it.

A groundbreaking and paradigm-shifting book, The Speed of Trust challenges our age-old assumption that trust is merely a soft, social virtue and instead demonstrates that trust is a hard-edged, economic driver -- a learnable and measurable skill that makes organizations more profitable, people more promotable, and relationships more energizing.

Historia
When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn't have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave - "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" - wasn't about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because "time is all you have... and you may find one day that you have less than you think").

A captivating true story written to inspire a dying man's children when they get old enough to understand. Randy has so many nuggets of common sense and gems of inspiration imbedded in this book, it is hard to find adequate words to give it enough praise.

Historia
In his nearly thirty years of teaching leadership, John Maxwell has encountered this question again and again: How do I apply leadership principles if I'm not the boss? It's a valid question that Maxwell answers in The 360-Degree Leader. You don't have to be the main leader, asserts Maxwell, to make significant impact in your organization. Good leaders are not only capable of leading their followers but are also adept at leading their superiors and their peers.

Historia
Outraged by the downward spiral of American intellect and culture, Michael R. LeGault offers the flip side of Malcolm Gladwell's best-selling phenomenon Blink, which celebrated impulse thinking over factual knowledge or critical analysis. If best-selling books are advising us to not think, LeGault argues, it comes as no surprise that sharp, incisive reasoning is on the decline, leading our society to incompetence and failure.

Thought provoking
Revisado: 08-16-08
It starts off bashing the book called "Blink" but once he gets beyond that waste of time he covers some very useful and relevant issues. His centeral theme provides the reader with a good basis for promoting the use of Critical Thinking and an understanding of why not to use the first gut reaction that comes by.
I found it to be very easy to listen to.
