Historia
One question, a split-second decision, and Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter?

Maybe it's me.....
Revisado: 04-20-11
I read the reviews and downloaded this book thinking I would truly enjoy it. For me it was the most ridiculous story line I ever read. I listened to the whole thing because it was interesting that an author could make such a attempt at keeping things straight and make it seem possible. Not a winner for me...

Historia
In this searing, unflinchingly honest book, Portia de Rossi captures the complex emotional truth of what it is like when food, weight, and body image take priority over every other human impulse or action. She recounts the elaborate rituals around eating that came to dominate hours of every day, from keeping her daily calorie intake below 300 to eating precisely measured amounts of food out of specific bowls and only with certain utensils. When this wasn’t enough, she resorted to purging and compulsive physical exercise, driving her body and spirit to the breaking point.

Revisado: 01-10-11
One of the most books written with courage and honesty. It touches anyone with an eating disorder and during the listen, I could feel my heart pound with the words of Portia's illness and how much of her everyday life it took from her. My mind could not wrap around the pain and energy it took to keep her 'eating' under control. I wish this woman all the best on her journey to recovery. A+

Historia
An innocent man is about to be executed. Only a guilty man can save him. Travis Boyette is such a man. In 1998, in the small East Texas city of Sloan, he abducted, raped, and strangled a popular high-school cheerleader. He buried her body so that it would never be found, then watched in amazement as police and prosecutors arrested and convicted Donté Drumm, a local football star, and marched him off to death row.

Excellent!
Revisado: 11-30-10
This book was great start to finish, it was a nail biting roller coaster of a story...I could not stop listening and would take my player everywhere with me so I can keep listening. Gives a good look at our judicial system, and moreover the politics involved when egos get in the way of the truth. A+

Historia
Jenn Corbin appeared to have it all: two dear little boys, a posh home in one of the upscale suburbs of Atlanta, expensive cars, a plush houseboat, and a husband, Dr. Bart Corbin, a successful dentist, who was tall, handsome, and brilliant. But gradually their seemingly idyllic life together began to crumble. Bart was distraught and Jenn seemed disenchanted. Then, just a few weeks before Christmas 2004, Jenn was found dead with a bullet in her head, an apparent suicide.

Another Murder Story
Revisado: 03-14-08
I am sad to say that though this book was good, it was just another man murdering his wife rather than get a divorce. It held my interest, but I cannot say I was at the edge of my seat. Good book when walking my dog.

Swinging from a meat-hook, his entire skin was in one piece including his hair, face, ears, nose, mouth and genitals. Slashes and stab holes tore through the human pelt, a testimony to the wounds he suffered before dying. Cruel and evil, Katherine Knight showed no mercy when she butchered her de facto in a crime that put her behind bars in an Australian prison for a record life sentence.

Historia
In a memoir hailed for its searing candor and wit, Alice Sebold ( The Lovely Bones) reveals how her life was utterly transformed when, as an 18-year-old college freshman, she was brutally raped and beaten in a park near campus. What propels this chronicle of her recovery is Sebold's indomitable spirit - as she struggles for understanding; as her dazed family and friends sometimes bungle their efforts to provide comfort and support; and as, ultimately, she triumphs, managing through grit and coincidence to help secure her attacker's arrest and conviction.

Historia
Switching Time is the first story centering on multiple personality disorder to be told by the treating physician. It is the incredible saga of a young woman stranded in unimaginable darkness who, in order to survive, created 17 different versions of herself. One by one, Karen's "alters" began showing themselves: men, women, young boys, a toddler, black, white, vicious, nurturing, prim, licentious. And their "stepping out" confronted Baer with the challenge of a lifetime.

Mind Blowing
Revisado: 12-07-07
I grew up with Three Faces of Eve and as a child I never really understood what multiple personality disorder meant. This book was one I could not stop listening to. The most amazing patient-doctor journey that takes this woman to the light at the end of the tunnel. The reader was so good that I actually felt I knew each personality and as Karen became more 'whole' I cried when each of the alters had to be integrated into this woman in order for her to become who she was meant to be. Amazing simply amazing a must listen. A++

Amazing listen. The reader, wonderful. Sad story but in fact touches all of us in some way. Trying to understand what makes us tick, maybe not in the way of the story but in what makes us who we really are. Excellent book.

This was a good book, but it jumped around a bit from one point of the woman's life to another. I had to rewind a few times to get to where I could understand what part of the woman's life I was in. A bit confusing.

Historia
Phil Spector, born in the Bronx in 1940, grew up an outsider despised by his peers. But he formed a band, and had a number-one hit with "To Know Him Is to Love Him". He quickly became the top producer of early rock and roll and the originator of such girl groups as the Ronettes. Hit followed hit, and for all of them he used a new recording style called the "wall of sound". But the reign of the boy-man who owned pop music was doomed, and Spector spiraled into paranoid isolation and peculiar behavior.
