This is NOT an advice book for those wondering about giving up meat. This is a critique of our global and historical view and approach to nutrition. The listener should approach it with that in mind. But It does provide a marvelous additional dimension to the controversy about our methods and bias in science, and in nutrition science in particular. His take/use of the "fish find water last" proverb is very apt here. As a civilization we are just now realizing how complicated life is and how intractable scientific analysis of large nonlinear dynamic networks can be. His critique goes to the root of our problem with the nutrition advice we're handed.

I regularly look for scholarly titles on Audible and I think this is one of the best. Nicely done undergraduate level introduction to the Earth's climate mechanisms and what part they play in the phenomenon of global warming. The lecture format is clear and the course guideline gives additional info and pointers to further reading. Good job Dr. McElroy. Definitely worth the $'s.

The plot and writing have some minor merit but, having read this book and almost all her other works when I was younger, I can tell you that with age comes a wisdom Ms. Rand never knew. The philosophy is simplistic and impoverished in important ways (most notably in its lack of understanding of human interactions outside the sphere of power relationships). The engine of our culture, even our species, is a deep interdependence in all areas. If you do listen to this use it to understand philosophy better by way of a bad example.
