Historia
Banished is an eye-opening, deeply personal account of life inside the cult known as the Westboro Baptist Church, as well as a fascinating story of adaptation and perseverance. Since no organized religion will claim affiliation with the WBC, it's perhaps more accurate to think of them as a cult. Lauren Drain was thrust into that cult at the age of 15, and then spat back out again seven years later. Banished is the story of Lauren's fight to find herself amidst dramatic changes in a world of extremists and a life in exile.

Heartbreaking story
Revisado: 06-18-17
Lauren Drain is a very strong and courageous young woman of faith. I really was not aware of the Westboro Baptist Church before listening to Lauren's story, but found it extremely interesting, challenging and terribly sad at the same time. I loved hearing Lauren read her own story and I love that she was able to recall those years in such great detail, including all of the feelings she had at different points in her life there.
I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys learning about different churches, extreme groups and cults.

The only book to examine the origins of Scientology's current leader, Ruthless tells the revealing story of David Miscavige's childhood and his path to the head seat of the Church of Scientology, told through the eyes of his father. Ron Miscavige's personal, heartfelt story is a riveting insider's look at life within the world of Scientology.

Great Insider Look at Scientology over Decades
Revisado: 05-19-17
This book is very well written and the narration is perfect! I found Ron's story fascinating, humorous at times, very heartbreaking, but also inspiring. I love that even after more than two decades, he found the drive and the courage to leave the "Sea Org" and create a new life. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys learning about religious cults.

Historia
Bob Dylan's Chronicles: Volume One explores the critical junctions in his life and career. Through Dylan's eyes and open mind, we see Greenwich Village, circa 1961, when he first arrives in Manhattan. Dylan's New York is a magical city of possibilities: smoky, nightlong parties; literary awakenings; transient loves and unbreakable friendships. Elegiac observations are punctuated by jabs of memories, penetrating and tough.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

Great WWII Story
Revisado: 05-03-15
Wonderfully detailed story of a horrific time in history, but with such an incredible depth of human redemption.
Very long and very detailed, but helped me go there in my imagination, though, I am so grateful to have never had to actually go there!
Stirred an awesome and wonderful appreciation for those who have fought and suffered for our freedom, but mostly left me in absolute awe of the transforming miracle of God's forgiveness.
