Historia
In 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, and is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

What a love story
Revisado: 06-07-24
The derails enriched the story in such a way as to draw and then paint a picture of the time. The story is woven together nicely with fact and fiction.

Entertaining with quirky characters
Revisado: 02-24-23
Story jumped around a bit oo much and for an ecological thriller, left me wondering about the real culprit behind the drama. This was by no means a literary work of high importance, little character development, and somewhat dated analogies. For and old time detective story, it does entertain.

A bit far fetched
Revisado: 01-28-23
Well developed storyline, a bit dark for my taster but intriguing with many twists and events that reflect a time period familiar to most.

Liked the characters; fairly believable with interesting twists. Certainly entertaining and well written. Some transitions were a bit difficult to follow, but the story remained understandable.

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.
