Audio Dramas aren’t for everyone, but I’m an avid listener of both Audio Books and Audio Dramas. When I discovered this was an Audio Drama, I was beyond excited!
Hearing the voices of all the different characters really brought them to life for me. Of course including the wonderful banter between Skippy and the filthy monkeys! All the voice actors put it all in their performances, and of course so did our usual narrator R.C.B.
This audio drama is shorter than all the other books (obviously) this is just a great treat to enjoy, with a well action pact story and humor. Also the sound effects?! Yes! Like I said, this is a great listen in between books.
Definitely would recommend giving this a listen!

An amazing continuation
Revisado: 01-31-25
This series just continues to get better. A great story with investigation, and great suspense and combat scenes. The relationship between our main characters continue to grow as they try to navigate challenges in their personal, and their work lives. I have found this series so far to be quite comforting in a way, the bonds that all the characters have with one another. Also the narration is top notch!

Seventeen-year-old Ellery is a non-believer in a region where people swear the supernatural is real. Sure, they’ve been stuck in a five-year winter, but there’s got to be a scientific explanation. If goddesses were real, they wouldn’t abandon their charges like this, leaving farmers like Ellery’s family to scrape by.

Lukens does it again
Revisado: 05-24-24
There isn’t a book F.T. Lukens has wrote that I haven’t enjoyed. But this one is one of his best works, and one of my favorite stories.
Each character has a distinct personality, as well and strengths and flaws. Our two main characters both have their own personal struggles that are true to life. Definitely worth a read.

Kill your gays trope

MAJOR SPOILERS

I love this series, story, characters, and the writing. I found myself looking forward to learn more about the lives of each character down the line of the book series, so when Katlyn was brought up more often in this book I was genuinely excited to hear about her story.
But the moment we get a glimpse into her life, about how she’s dating a woman, she gets shot and dies almost immediately after. I understand in their line of duty there is that danger, and it does add to the drama of the book but as a Queer person myself I am constantly disappointed in books, shows, only adding a queer character only to kill them off…
Now I’m honesty I stopped reading after that point, so I don’t know what happens at the end. Maybe I’ll finish this at some point because I do really enjoy this writing and story, just so disappointed this trope was used.

Needed editing, wish it were longer
Revisado: 12-01-23
Now before I say anything else let me just say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the mother Alex and her relationship with her children. And it was very action packed.
There are some grammar errors I’ve noticed and inconsistency’s revolving character appearance, but none that bothered me enough not to enjoy this book.
I wish the story was longer going into more detail about survival tactics, and their days traveling. I did find myself lost because it’s never described where they are and how close they are to their destination. Then all of a sudden poof! They were there.
Overall it’s worth a try if you love family dynamics surviving an apocalypse!

Not what I expected, in the best possible way!
Revisado: 11-21-23
Once you first start listening to this story, you think you know what you’re in for. But no, the journey and story is so much more.
This is definitely a more mature read, and not in the sexy way you may think. But dealing with heavy topics of love and life.
There are tense and tear jerking moments, but it leads to something greater. And a happy end for our characters.
Definitely give this book a read, if you’ve been debating it.

What a ride!!
Revisado: 11-16-23
This book has more story, and insight with each characters. The story unfolds, and the past seems to catch up with them.
This book in my opinion out shown the first, but you can’t have the second without the first.
You’ll find this book full of mystery, dark magic, and monsters from the past, as well as a glittering of humor I adored.
Waiting impatiently for the next book!

Not terrible, but probably won’t read again
Revisado: 06-29-23
I grew up reading this Trilogy, and now 10 years later I revisited it. It’s not as good as I remember when I was younger, but it’s not terrible.
Negatives:
At points in the story across all three books I found a lot of parts of the situations and events unnecessary, and dragged on.
There were too many times where the books tried to one up each other, with more plot twists, and enemy’s which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but in this case halfway through the book I didn’t know what the deal was with a handful of characters. Or even why they were in certain places during the story.
Positives:
The cranks, I don’t know what it is about the people infected with the Flair Virus but every time they show up I get chills down my spine. I think they are fascinating, and down right more terrifying than other “zombies” in other medias. Even the thought of being infected and knowing slowly you would loose your mind and become a monster, scary af. I believe the books did a better job at showing how deadly and terrifying that virus is compared to the movie.
The fight scenes are good when there was one, not really much to say on those.
Overall, I believe if you haven’t read the books do so at least once, but rereading it wasn’t worth it in my opinion. I believe the movies did a good job organizing itself, and gave the characters more heart. And they weren’t as confusing and got straight to the point with a good portion of the mystery and horror.

Absolutely Wonderful
Revisado: 05-17-22
A wonderful book, hardships, hope, adventure, and heart. This book has so many messages and meanings within, along with a fantastic story that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.
The characters within this book, their personalities, relationships, and past were done wonderfully.
This is the type of book I wish was written many years ago for me growing up with all the reasons I listen above and representation.
You can tell the love, work, and effort the author put into this book, and is definitely one to be read multiple times.
The two narrators did a fantastic job conveying emotions and feeling as well as the witty humor throughout the book.
This is a must read!
