I finished a first draft for the first time!
Revisado: 07-29-20
I finally finished a whole draft of book using this book and I have been trying to do that for 10 years.
I listened to this book at least once a day everyday (bits and pieces of it) to motivate me and keep me on task and focused - for 30 days. I had done something similar when cleaning/organizing with Marie Kondos book. I listened to it over and over until I was done. I did the same with this book and it worked!!!
I have read 30+ books about writing, but nothing clicked until I read this one. If you are struggling with finishing a complete first draft, this book it for you. I completed my book in less than 30 days, but it took more like 80 hours of actual writing time (but I am easily distracted; I think if you are focused you really could get it done in 45 hours of writing time). This book delivers a real solution to how to get a first draft of ANY kind of book completed.
I highly recommend you try it out! Great narration as well!

Historia
When Ada Calhoun found herself in the throes of a midlife crisis, she thought that she had no right to complain. She was married with children and a good career. So why did she feel miserable? And why did it seem that other Generation X women were miserable, too? Calhoun decided to find some answers. She looked into housing costs, HR trends, credit card debt averages, and divorce data. At every turn, she saw a pattern: sandwiched between the Boomers and Millennials, Gen X women were facing new problems as they entered middle age, problems that were being largely overlooked.

Historia
In 2015, Ellen K. Pao sued a powerhouse Silicon Valley venture capital firm, calling out workplace discrimination and retaliation against women and other underrepresented groups. Her suit rocked the tech world - and exposed its toxic culture and its homogeneity. Her message overcame negative PR attacks that took aim at her professional conduct and her personal life, and she won widespread public support - Time hailed her as “the face of change.”

Must read for any working woman (or working man!)
Revisado: 09-24-17
What did you love best about Reset?
Ellen Pao courageously spoke the truth. She took on venture capitalists with unlimited resources to tell all about a seriously broken industry and work culture. Ellen did everything she could think of to be successful (including making Kleiner millions) and it still wasn't enough.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Ellen of course! I am so thankful that someone finally wrote about these issues. Women have been "leaning in" for decades, and we are losing ground. She is right, there needs to be a reset. As she recounts the abuse she suffered, the pointless hurdles she jumped, she realized, despite her pedigreed background and endless striving, that she was in an unwinnable game. Her courageous act of telling her story might change this. I hope it does!
Which character – as performed by Emily Woo Zeller – was your favorite?
As an audible addict, I definitely think Emily is one of the top 5 narrators in the game. She is great and she has the perfect voice to give life to Ellen's prose.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were too many to list. Because so many of the situations made me feel like saying "me too." I am not alone.
Any additional comments?
Ellen --- you should compile a follow up to Reset of the letters you received from people. All their stories.... like how after Liz Gilbert wrote Eat, Pray Love, she compiled a book of her fans entitled "Eat, Pray Love Made Me Do It."

A creepy new twist on a fairy tale
Revisado: 06-04-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Another daily deal purchase, I dont think I would have selected this on my own but pleased that the Daily Deal people did. This is a traditional tale flipped on its head and creepy. Extremely creative writer creates a new fantasy world for your brain to go to. A little bit Games of Thrones with cruelty and deviousness.
What did you like best about this story?
The best part is the epilogue... an unexpected reflection on a traditional tale. Salisbury shows her true colors here. As she should. Sometimes things need to be spelled out.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The empowered princess in a dark world

Palo Alto is the debut of a surprising and powerful new literary voice. Written with an immediate sense of place - claustrophobic and ominous - James Franco's collection traces the lives of an extended group of teenagers as they experiment with vices of all kinds, struggle with their families and one another, and succumb to self-destructive, often heartless nihilism.

I liked that it was so real. usually I dont like books read by the author but I really liked her voice. it felt like this is someone I would like to know. I guess salinger felt the same way.
