Historia
From Booker T. Jones's earliest years in segregated Memphis, music was the driving force in his life. While he worked paper routes and played gigs in local nightclubs to pay for lessons and support his family, Jones, on the side, was also recording sessions in what became the famous Stax Studios -all while still in high school. Not long after, he would form the genre-defining group Booker T. and the MGs, whose recordings went on to sell millions of copies and win a place in Rolling Stone's list of top 500 songs of all time.

Excellent Companion to Singer’s Books
Revisado: 04-05-22
Mickey Singer is a compelling voice within the “spiritual community” because he didn’t need to do any of this. Someone who made many millions running successful businesses is perhaps one of the last people you’d expect to be a Yogi, let alone a spiritual teacher. Without claiming any of his teachings as original ideas, his own unique perspectives resonate and aid in pointing the seeker toward the truth with practical advice.

Historia
In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

Not just a great writer/performer of songs.

What a life this man has lived. It's an incredible story, honestly and earnestly told. Absolutely beautiful imagery. As someone who has battled with anxiety and depression - and as a musician - I appreciate Bruce's openness about his demons all the more. God speed and thank you Bruce for always doin' you.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Wonderfully Performed!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes - Captivating story, fantastic narration by David Pittu.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Goldfinch?
There are lots of memorable moments, and I certainly don't want to give anything away. I like Tartt's 'brush strokes' of language. Her writing is as graceful as the painting at the heart of the story
What does David Pittu bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Amazing voices... Russian accents, German accents, French, etc., switching flawlessly back and forth between characters. There's so much more information inflected when you hear a book that is read this well.
If you could take any character from The Goldfinch out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Boris sure seems like he'd be a blast to hang with for an evening.
Any additional comments?
I'm not generally a big reader/listener of novels. I usually prefer non-fiction, but this was a great ride!
