Historia
Looking at real estate isn’t usually a life-or-death situation, but an apartment open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes a group of strangers hostage. The captives include a recently retired couple who relentlessly hunt down fixer-uppers to avoid the painful truth that they can’t fix their own marriage. There’s a wealthy bank director who has been too busy to care about anyone else and a young couple who are about to have their first child but can’t seem to agree on anything.

Where is the Humor???
Revisado: 12-22-22
To be fair, I’m only three hours into this book but I have not laughed once yet, rather quite the opposite. Maybe it becomes humorous in the latter half of the book? I purchased this book because it was listed under Humor and was touted as being lighthearted but the topic are all about suicide, homelessness and losing custody of your children. I just don’t see the humor in any of those topics??? I really needed to listen to something light and funny to distract myself from some stressor and difficulties in my own life and so far I can honestly say that this book has just made me feel worse. Maybe listing this book under the category of humor was someone’s idea of a sick joke; or perhaps society has drifted so far from a place of empathy and compassion that people now find these topics humorous? That is not to say that the story is bad, it just is not light or humorous and I might come back to this book when I am in a better place personally but for right now I can not continue to listen to this. This book really should be recategorized as just fiction and removed from the category of humor.

I knew this book was written in the 70's when I purchased it but it seemed like it might be a "classic" and therefore worth a listen. He discusses a number of peculiar events surrounding the collapse of the Silver Bridge. Among these events are sightings of mothman, UFO, strange phone calls, visits from very disorganized MIB agents, etc. However, the author really fails to offer any kind of theory about the cause or meaning of these events. He dismissed extraterrestrial contact out of hand stating simply that extraterrestrial life does not exist and to speculate otherwise is just silly. Then he turns around and blames all these peculiar events on malicious beings in the psycospere, but fails to give any theory as to who these beings are, why they like to make crank phone calls, what their ultimate goals are etc. After listening to the book, I just cannot understand why people seem to like it so much or why is still gets mentioned thirty years later.

extremely slow cookie cutter fantasy novel
Revisado: 02-17-14
I think the title of my review says it all. There tends to be a basic formula for fantasy novels and this one follows that formula to a T. Young unwitting hero who is untrained but nobel at heart, wise older man who takes the hero on a journey and instructs him in combat along the way, elves (there are alway elves), quest for a magic sword, you get the picture - no surprises here.

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: a terrifying ability to channel electricity and to see a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude ... until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire. Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all - but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula.

Should be listed under Erotica not Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Revisado: 07-06-12
Just because a book has a vampire or any other creature of fiction does not necessarily make it a true Sci-fi/fantasy book. The primary theme throughout this book is the erotic relationship between the two main characters in a "Harliquine-esc" type romance. I guess I should have figured that out from the cover picture so part of the blame for wasting my credit on this book lands at my feet. However, I wish Audible would do a little better job labeling the genre of the books. For instance I would label this "romance/erotica with fantasy overtones". I would not have minded so much if the characters had of been better. The vampire was very stereotype and predictable. The main female character has the emotional maturity of 12 year old. Just irritating!

Historia
Space is a world devoid of the things we need to live and thrive: air, gravity, hot showers, fresh produce, privacy, beer. Space exploration is in some ways an exploration of what it means to be human. How much can a person give up? How much weirdness can they take? What happens to you when you can’t walk for a year? Have sex? Smell flowers? What happens if you vomit in your helmet during a space walk? Is it possible for the human body to survive a bailout at 17,000 miles per hour?

The Every Day Mundane Details of Space Travel
Revisado: 08-18-10
I enjoyed this book and it's unique look at the mundane aspects of space travel. However, the title is a tad misleading as the book deals primarily with previous space missions and really speaks very little about aspect particular to a manned mars mission. While still enjoyable I would have like to hear more specifics about future mars missions.
