A very well crafted narrative of important events that links the conclusion of the conversion of Clovis to the Hundred Years War.

Absolutely excellent reimagining of a childhood classic (Huckleberry Finn). Full of historic references that kept me on my toes. I strongly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book because it leans into the events preceding the battle (roughly half the book) to situate the battle and its impacts on subsequent events like the Battle of Saratoga.

I would strongly recommend to any lover of colonial history and the revolutionary period.

Good book but could have been better organized. Certain things were repetitive. However, overall the content is exceptional providing an excellent description of the rise and fall of the Zulu state.

A riveting piece of late nineteenth century journalistic inquiry, Wells depicts not only raw list of individuals lynched but also narrative accounts from the apologists of lynching and its distractors.

An excellent read for mature audiences.

The leaders picked represented a diverse cross section of industries, ethnicities, and gender backgrounds. The books inclusivity made me not only feel included as a minority but also allowed me to connect with individuals’ experiences similar to mine inspiring me to dream big, think outside the box, and know that only the sky is my limit.

An excellent book!

The book is primarily the history of the slave trading firm Franklin & Armfield, one of the nation’s most notable and largest domestic slave traders. An excellent read, the author chronicles the evolution of the domestic trade through the lens of the company’s records and its impact on southern society.

This is a thorough examination of Persian (Achaemenid) history challenging traditional Western assumptions. The author brilliantly acknowledges how Greek sources inform our understandings of Persian history while tactfully preferencing the rich source materials of cuneiform tablets, inscriptions, and other archaeological sources.

Divided into three sections, the first and third detail Achaemenid history using a narrative chronological approach demarcated by each king’s reign. The second section focuses on Achaemenid culture. Readers can listen to just sections 1 and 3 for a more narrative reading of Persian history. However, when read in totality, section 2 is a nice reprieve helping to contextualize Achaemenid culture. Having this understanding prior to reading section 3 better situates the subsequent dynastic squabbles that would ultimately lead to the empire’s conquest.

I would strongly recommend this book.

Absolutely amazing. Franklin narrates his life story which features major turning points in race relations in the United States. Additionally, his unique experience as upper class African American offer unique insights to opportunities his groundbreaking scholarship positioned him to have within America’s racial matrixes.

Highly recommend.
