Historia
In the middle of an awful divorce, 53-year-old Georgia Carpenter finds herself out of luck, time, and money. Then her phone rings with the news that her great aunt has died and left her a cottage in the Gulf Coast town of Blackbird Beach. Georgia has no idea what awaits her on the other coast of Florida. All she knows is that she has nowhere else to go. And no reason to stay where she is.

Most boring book I’ve ever listened to
Revisado: 09-19-22
If you want to spend hours and hours on a book where absolutely nothing happens and there isn’t an ounce of conflict till the last 30 minutes, this is the book for you. Glad it was free but I won’t be moving on to the next ones. Feel duped.

Historia
Becca still can't remember the night 16-year-old Jessica disappeared from a party, never to be seen again. Which is bad enough (especially since she was supposedly the last person to see Jessica alive), but it's not the worst.... Strange events are making Becca think there's a link between what happened to Jessica 15 years ago and the darkness happening now. With help from her friends and her teenage crush, Daniel, Becca races against time to uncover the truth about Jessica before another 16-year-old girl is doomed to the same fate as Jessica....

How can Becca be so STUPID?
Revisado: 04-27-22
I don't think I have EVER encountered a more annoying protagonist. I got lured with the first book because it was free, then felt like I needed some closure so ordered this one. Got SOME closure but feel this could have been handled in half the pages. Did I mention how ANNOYING Becca is? Returning it and not ordering the next one. I don't care what happens anymore. GREAT narration though. Good writing too, actually. Just put a spine in Becca!

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

HELP!
Revisado: 02-24-20
I have been thoroughly enjoying the book and it's rich descriptions. HOWEVER, I am stuck in the "history of the Mayfairs," after the Charlotte section and I'm dying! Is the story going to pick up soon? I'm having heck of a time keeping track of the rambling on and on of all the Mayfair descendants! I don't want to miss anything important, but I am currently drowning in the names and relationships being catalogued. I still have 30 hours to go! I'm ready to bail but need some guidance! Thanks!

TOTAL Green Mile KNOCKOFF
Revisado: 09-06-12
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I can't believe I didn't read the reviews first! It's an exact duplicate of the Green Mile (and a bit of Shawshank). It may be the first book EVER that I don't finish listening to. I also WANT MY CREDIT BACK! And does Stephen King know? He should have a big issue with this. Or maybe not, since it's not nearly as good and we all know who the original is.
Would you ever listen to anything by Jodi Picoult again?
Certainly not without reading the reviews!

Historia
Never has Mallory faced as many surprises as in the case before her now. It seems cut-and-dried at first: a burglar has been caught in the act and killed by an ice pick-wielding homeowner. Except that the homeowner turns out to be the most famous lost child in NYPD history, missing for almost 60 years, thought to have been kidnapped following the massacre of her family: five siblings, father, stepmother, nanny, and housekeeper, nearly the entire household wiped out...with an ice pick.

I thought it was me...
Revisado: 05-03-05
Until I read all the other reviews. Too bad I was new to this and didn't do it ahead of time. What a lousy book. Such a dissapointment given a really intriguing premise. I thought it was never going to end but hung on thinking that maybe the finish would make it all worthwhile. NOT. I didn't even get it.
