Deadly Good!

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 02-05-11

If you like Charlaine Harrison, Kim Harrison, Carrie Vaughn, Jim Butcher and other paranormal series this is the next series for you! I listened to them all in two weeks and can't wait for the next. They are well written, entertaining, sexy and have great dialogue. As well the narration is excellent. Kat and Bones are great characters....and it really is a love story too. Each book is a story in itself so you are not left hanging (well the first one you are pulled to the next book). You are simply wanting more. Read in order as they do continue from each other...and be prepared to be hooked!

Another trot through Virgin River

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 02-05-11

Promise Canyon features two new "fall in love" characters Lily and Clay. The book also brings in Native Amercian tradition and culture. And there are horses! RC always has an emotional struggle in her books and this does not disappoint...baggage from the past, pain and disappointment something anyone can relate too. Not as "deep" as other stories but on target. The situations usually work out with a prescribed effort. Previous characters are brought into the story and something very sad happens but in The Virgin River way the town folk come together and heal. New characters are introduced that hopefully lead up to more books...especially "on the search for his birth father" Denny. It is a fantasy community and so nice to visit....and I appreciate happy endings.

Fun and Entertaining

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 02-02-11

Katie MacAlister does it again with this third installment of the Silver Dragon series. Alot of the old characters are actively involved in this book (Drake, Ashling, Costia, Nora, Maygoth, Jim, Baltic, Fiat, red dragons). Mayling and Gabriel are challenged with having to deal with the dragon shard in Mayling...and their developing relationship. The story has great humor regarding male - female roles. The other books in the series should be read first because the story is progressive and leaves off with a cliffhangar for number 4. It is pure fun and entertainment...an escape. Great narration!

Beautifully written book!

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 12-22-10

Truly a beautifully written book that will make the simpliest things become lavishly described events. The scenery is vivid and the characters are alive. The story encompasses the emigration of two late teenage Scots to Montana, their journey, their homesteading, their friendship through decades and their families. Rob and Angus are great characters. You will be planted with these folks in the hills of the Rockies near Two Medicine and in Scot Heaven. Clearly sacrifices are made for duty and for love...and lots of stubborn temperaments. The narration is done flawlessly. This is a graceful book filled with history and eloquence. It is also a story that comes full circle which I appreciated.

Like catching up with old friends

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-17-10

This installment in the Virgin River series is like meeting with old friends! Luke Riordan is the focus of this book, brother to Luke and Sean (from previous books). Luke falls in love with Erin (super-responsible type A personality taking a vacation for the first time in 10 years ) in a typical RC manner; fast, furious and passionate but not without humor and great dialogue. The women are strong and independent characters. Well except for the sociopathic x-wife holding the gun!!!! RC always wraps the stories in some type of adversity with quite believable circumstances and with a pregnancy story woven around it all. Mel and Jack are the side story in this book and it is great to hear how they are coping with all their life changes. I recommend reading the books in order just to appreciate the characters but they could stand alone too. Its entertainment, and its NICE!!! Excellent narration.

Kooky and fun

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-09-10

This story involves the unresolved break up of Andie and North....ten years after their divorce. It includes ghosts, a haunted house, children, grumpy housekeeper and a paranormal group of folks...sort of weird mix up at times with humor and suspense. It was entertaining and many of the characters were good, but some lacked further character development. The crazy mixture of eccentric and dramatic people is filled with witty dialogue classic in JC novels. Was it a romance novel or a ghost story...not sure and not sure it matters. I did get tired of the numerous use of the word "said" in conversations, I would think an editor would have helped with that more. It is a fun, kooky, entertaining novel with a happy ending...but with a feeling more could have been SAID! Will there be a sequel since it takes place in 1992? Narration was very good!

A Must for Dresden Fans

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-04-10

An excellent collection of stories about Harry Dresden and his colleagues. This collection is not excerpts from the Dresden series, some are from other anthologies and some are novellas, all are original from the series. I had only heard one before...so each story was captivating, filled with detail and creative ongoing adventures of Dresden. Directions are given to the listener as to when the stories were written and why (by James Butcher). Included in the first chapter is a story written by Butcher as he was a budding author, how far he has come and taken us with him. The last story picks up immediately after CHANGES...excellent! Thanks Jim Butcher for great entertainment! Narrator is superb...five stars!

Masterful Storyteller

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 10-23-10

Ken Follett does a superb job describing and creating a scene in which you can immerse yourself. He is a masterful stroyteller. If you liked Pillars of the Earth, you will enjoy this book. The characters range from the working class to the aristocracy. The historical venue is fescinating as you travel from England to Germany to Russia and back. The best part is you get to feel all sides of WWI. This book is terrific voyage to the past....enjoyed every word. John Lee the narrator was great too!

Many Bloody Returns Audiolibro Por Kelley Armstrong, Jim Butcher, Rachel Caine, Bill Crider, P. N. Elrod, Christopher Golden,

A Fun Collection!

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 10-17-10

Overall a good collection of stories by different authors. Jim Butcher's story was the best, great description and storyline, very original (great for Harry Dresden fans). Charliaine Harris's story was a repeat from her Sookie books but still entertaining. Some stories were fun start to finish but some did feel incomplete or rushed. If you want an introduction to several authors in this paranormal fantasy genre, this is a good collection to review.

Unforgetable!

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 10-17-10

Some books come along that leave you thinking long after the last word, The Room is one of them. This book like, The Lovely Bones, is haunting and intriguing. I thought the narration by the 5 year old boy would grow old but you are sucked into this world of "Ma" and Jack. The nurturing role of motherhood is expressed so well in this story, especially as you learn what "Ma" has coped with. You will learn the difference of what is safe and secure for an adult and a child. Emma D. did an excellent job describing the psychological issues involved in the story. You will be fascinated, horrified, endeared, appreciative and much more as you listen to young Jack share his world. To the last page you will remember his voice and the message of the power of survival. Beautiful, remarkable and unforgetable...top 10 audios for me. Excellent narration.
