Aspiring musician Ruby Tucker has had enough of her small rural town and dysfunctional family. But a falling out with her best friend and bandmate has killed her dreams of escaping and making it big in the Atlanta punk scene. Brom is Back!
Revisado: 09-19-24
I loved this book. It has the perfect blend of whimsy and creepy with the added element of musical performance. Since Brom was an 80's goth, I feel like this book captured a bit of his nostalgic youth. The beginning felt a little corny, but as the story progressed, it got better and better. Narrators did a fantastic job. I wasn't a fan of Slewfoot, so I was happy to hear that Brom hasn't lost his touch.

Entertaining Cringe
Revisado: 06-06-23
If you are into Dino porn, then this is your book. If you are vaugely curious to what this niche genre has to offer, then don't. Overall, this book uses very strange similes and cringey dialog. At one point, the MC has her arm eaten by her Dino lover and gets aroused reminiscing of it. Narrator randomly mispronounced the MC name in one chapter. Overall, it was entertaining, but very cringe.

Historia
Eulalie Island should be a paradise, but to Addie Spencer, it’s more like a prison. Forced to tag along to the remote island on her mother’s honeymoon, Addie isn’t thrilled about being trapped there for two weeks. The island is stunning, with its secluded beaches and forests full of white flowers. But there's something eerie and unsettling about the place.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

A Book for Nature Lovers
Revisado: 08-04-22
Truly beautiful, written by an ecologist. Honestly the plot is the least interesting part of the novel. I enjoyed all of imagery of the marsh, a very peaceful read in that sense. The plot was predictable, not one that grabs you by the throat, so enjoy the beautiful sycomores and herons, listen to the poetry and taste the muscles. I wouldn't have known that feathers and shells could be described so elegantly. The narrator does a fantastic job.

And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. I was NOT prepared for this book. I had no idea that this was going to smutty feast of a novel. I loved every second of it and it's the string feminine narrative I was hoping it would be. I'm sad now that I have to wait who knows how long for book 6

Vomit and Smut
Revisado: 07-15-22
Look, if you don't like the smutt, then it's your fault for reading it, by no means is this a low rating book. Story is much more developed than book 1 and more enjoyable characters. The only thing that i could pass on was the numberous vomitting and mention of wanting to vomit, quite excessive. Ending grabbed me by the throat and led me straight to book 3.

This reminded me so much of reading the Twilight Saga for the first time back in middle school, 15 years ago. At first I wasn't sure about the novel, but halfway through I was more intrigued. On my way to book 2!

read this book for a book club. I tend to read fantasy and horror books, so this is quite different than my regular cup of tea. painfully slow start, would have returned it if it wasnt for a club, but once the main focus of the plot was introduced about a third if the way through, it picked up the pace. as a bisexual woman, i appreciate the many truths that are told about the hardships of what it is like to be a bisexual before, during, and after the stonewall riots and the AIDS epidemic. honestly, the story isn't that captivating aside from when Celia, the love interest, is present or spoken about. maybe the author did that on purpose so the reader fell for Celia and detest the many men Evelyn affiliated herself with. well written book, this reader just doesn't find A list actress drama very interesting.
