Historia
Craig Ferguson has defied the odds his entire life. He has failed when he should have succeeded and succeeded when he should have failed. The fact that he is neither dead nor in a locked facility (at the time of printing) is something of a miracle in itself. In Craig’s candid and revealing memoir, listeners will get a look into the mind and recollections of the unique and twisted Scottish American who became a national hero for pioneering the world’s first TV robot skeleton sidekick and reviving two dudes in a horse suit dancing as a form of entertainment.

Revisado: 12-30-24
This narrative helped remedy my sadness, for a welcome and joyful moment, as I no longer am able to look forward to watching or watch Craig's Late Night Show. Thank you, Mr Ferguson, for sharing all of your wisdom acquired by struggle and luck. You make me smile, weep, think, and feel.

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Following his book Captured on corporate capture of regulatory and government agencies, and his years of experience as a prosecutor, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse here turns his attention to the right-wing scheme to capture the courts, and how it influenced the Trump administration's appointment of over 230 "business-friendly" judges, including the last three justices of the United States Supreme Court.

Revisado: 12-11-22
Dark $ changes everything. Reading Whitehouse's latest offers answers to the questions of who, why, when, where, and how. Well documented premises lead to valid conclusions by way of commanding syllogistic logic. An important title that is highly recommended.

Well-referenced history of GOP fear-mongering
Revisado: 10-19-22
Well-referenced narrative of GOP fear-mongering. David Corn has connected the dots of fear of change, differences, "the other," etc. that exists throughout human history. Unfortunately, with few exceptions, the GOP were (and still are) equally frightened to do anything about it. This vulnerability to face the truth leads to Kelly-Anne Conway, Trump, Graham, et al war on facts. A democracy is dependent on agreed evidence and diversity of opinions re: what to do with it. This was most deadly when Trump denied evidence re: the pandemic. We need to remain constantly vigilant to threats against democracy by confronting those who peddle lies to line their own pocket or compensate for narcissistic wound.

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Historia
During the 20th century, America managed to make its economic and social systems both more and more fair and more and more prosperous. A huge, secure, and contented middle class emerged. All boats rose together. But then the New Deal gave way to the Raw Deal. Beginning in the early 1970s, by means of a long war conceived of and executed by a confederacy of big business CEOs, the superrich, and right-wing zealots, the rules and norms that made the American middle class possible were undermined and dismantled.

Nostalgic 1900s MAGA v More perfect democracy
Revisado: 10-04-20
Author's arguments for progressive change leading us toward a "more perfect union" of freedom, justice, and shared prosperity are well referenced. Political and economic democracy, if to survive without our own Tale of Two Cities' Bastille Day violence, requires redistribution of wealth, power, and opportunity. Trump is but an incompetent vessel promoting corporatist greed. The hundreds of thousands of COVID-19 casualities, Trump calls "warriors," are the victims of that greed. The lack of empathy and unwillingness to stop enabling this violence by the GOP will end only by electing Progressive Democratic leadership in local, state, and federal offices. For example: Biden-Harris for POTUS/VP, Amy McGrath, Jamie Harrison, and Katie Porter for US Congress.

Historia
A huge swath of Americans have put their faith in Trump, and Trump only, because they see the rest of the country building a future that doesn't have a place for them. If they would risk their lives for Trump in a pandemic, they will certainly risk the stability of American democracy. They brought the Trumpocalypse upon the country, and a post-Trumpocalypse country will have to find a way either to reconcile them to democracy - or to protect democracy from them.

Revisado: 06-07-20
An adroit analysis of how the US devolved into the tRumpocalypse, based upon latent white supremacy and overt greed. Frum further argues how our "eyes wide open" awareness and choice to act together based upon our "better angels" can evince a stronger, just, and "more perfect union." Thank you, Mr Frum.
