The dialogue is brutally painful. The narrator isn’t bad, but he’s bad for this story. The story is a clever twist on the traditional Abrahamic mythology mixed with modern day scientific ideas. Unfortunately, the dialogue is forced, kinda like an old radio drama.

Keeps me engaged

This series is my first journey into litRPG. I have thoroughly enjoyed the story, the unique struggle, and the overall direction. I feel that there will be far more mystery unraveled in future books. My only complaint is having to wait for the next release.

I didn't hate it

I wanted to hate this version of the book. We all know it's a fantastic story. I first fell in love with the original version narrated by R.C. Bray. I assumed I would hate this as read by W. Wheaton. But, I have to admit, he did a pretty good job. I refuse to say it's as good as Bray's performance. But if it didn't exist, this version would still be one of my favorites. Thanks for proving me wrong.

Great story

This isn't my usual genre but found it to be an engaging story. However, I do feel the story was rushed. Things seemed to progress unnaturally. I feel like there could have been, at least, four or more hours as the author could have developed characters and expanded the plot to fill in the many holes. But the overall premise was good and I felt the ending was wrapped satisfactorily, if not unrealistically. Narration was pretty good. If Mr. Zugg were to expand this story in the future, I would re-listen.

The relationship between the main characters. The heartbreak. The sacrifice. Just, wow. Great story. The last couple hours had me bawling my eyes out. I do have to wonder, however, if the author was homeschooled.

Much, much better than expected

As the title says, this story was much better than I expected it would be. I obtained a free copy and figured all I had to lose was time. I was blown away. Not only by the story but the performance was also top notch. I ended up listening to the entire series. Given how much I enjoyed it, I will be adding his other series’ to my library as well. If you like supernatural stories about zombies, vampires, and the determination to help your loved ones survive against daunting odds, then, this is the one for you.

Author hates contractions.

The first thing I noticed was the absence of contractions. It was like being read to by Data. The second thing I noticed was a complete disregard for respect in the military chain of command. "SURE!" It's a pretty good story idea. I think it would be great if the estate would allow someone to rewrite it and clean it up. It's very clear that Vincent is new to writing and it shows. I'm not saying this as a dig, because we all have to begin somewhere. I just think the story would benefit from a rewrite to clean it up.
