Book had a great steady pace. Felt the chemistry between the main characters. Plot was good but at the end of the 12 hour listen didn’t really feel the plot was enough. Narrators were fantastic! It was a good listen but not one that will be remembered.

Good but not Great

The story kept my attention but it is one I can walk away and forget about. It is your standard billionaire arranged marriage. Main characters fell in love right away and it was a cute love story without much plot.
Narration was also good but not great. Love both the female voice and male voice. Didn’t like when the male narrator tried a girl voice and vice versa.
I love the author. I just didn’t love this book. It may have to do with how much I loved the first in the series Black Ties and White Lies. I’m still in love with Beck!

Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

What a great story. Very cute, great banter. The FMC can be a little too pessimistic at times, and the blow up close to the end of the story was not one I would think could cause so agony but in this story it did. If that part of the story was more believable this book would have been five stars for me.

Supporting character better than Main characters

I saw so many good recommendations of this book on Instagram, that I decided to leave the book I was currently reading. Unfortunately, the anticipation those reviews created, left me feeling let down by this book.
I was not able to connect with the female MC. Which surprised me. She was sarcastic and almost hyper independent which is like me. The male MC was more like able but not as dark as I was expecting. Their interactions were cold and seemed forced. Decker the supporting character seemed more interesting and his lines made me laugh.
The story itself felt very rushed. One minute you are getting the plot then the next Hunter becomes obsessed out of nowhere. From there it is him being nice to her and her being cold and sarcastic but can’t help but want a “distraction”. Which those distractions were more high school hookups than obsessed hitman spicy.
I would give the story a 3 and the spice level a 2.5. Overall the book was was a 3 out of 5!for me. I would have given it a 2 but I was able to finish it.
