So so story with clever dialogue and superb actors

Kept my interest with zings of humor. A few places characters slipped out of evil character, but it was minimal slippage. Ends well.

In the remote, pastoral hamlet of Canaan, Vermont, a high-profile legal case shatters the town's sense of peace and community. Anger simmers. Fear and prejudice awaken. Good plot with satisfying conclusion.

Despite the frustration of enabled, spoiled children, my enjoyment of the character and her detective work was assured by a well constructed plot. A good leisure read.

Historia
Selchester Castle in 1953 sits quiet and near-empty, its corridors echoing with glories of the past. Or so it seems to intelligence officer Hugo Hawksworth, wounded on a secret mission and now reluctantly assuming an altogether less perilous role at Selchester.

Stiff Upper Lip
Revisado: 04-07-16
What made the experience of listening to A Man of Some Repute the most enjoyable?
This novel clearly settled into the English countryside. Somewhat because of this, it was slow moving. The reader had the feeling that the mystery would never be solved by British police methods and so, the disguised investigator was obviously sorely needed. The plot held together well and that was the strength of the novel
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
For Baldachi fans, the plot was slow to develop and the reader could be easily distracted by details seemingly serving only to enrich the setting of the story and yet a clear picture of the characters was never accomplished.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
This is a book that will not provide motivation to force yourself to remain on the treadmill but would be a relaxing listen for quiet walks, time on a balcony by the sea, or on a shaded patio where it could be digested slowly.
