Slow Start
Revisado: 06-28-24
This novel got off to a slow start, and at times was a bit... repetitious but as the story went on, it got better and better.

Historia
Centuries ago, the followers of the new gods defeated the old gods and the folk of legend, banishing them from the world of man. With their departure, magic faded from the land. The Milesian Accords had provisions for a new challenge, though, and the Exiled Gods have sent their minions back to our world to seek out a champion to fight for them and a druid able to wield the magic needed to fulfill the challenge. A descendant of the druid who participated in the original challenge, Liam Knox doesn’t know anything about the Accords or his ancestors....

Very Offended
Revisado: 02-17-23
If you consider yourself to be a good Christian, don't read this book. The author has real life good guys into fictitious bad guys. Christians get a bad rap from the real life press as it is, the last thing we need are books like this villifing us even more. I will not be reading the rest of the series or any other books this author writes.
Also, the frequent sexual tripe is so bad that I am honestly surprised that Amazon hasn't put a warning in the description about the sexual content of this book and likely the series.
As a side note, the reader of this novel was horrible. He seemed confused as to which voice he was supposed to be doing. Several of the characters were hard to distinguish from each other and he sometimes halting cadence made listening to this book awkward at times.
Audible has a lot of books better than this one. Don't waste your time on this one.

A being more powerful and dangerous on an order of magnitude beyond what the world has seen in a millennium is coming. And she’s bringing an army. The Last Titan has declared war on the city of Chicago and has come to subjugate humanity, obliterating any who stand in her way. Harry’s mission is simple but impossible: Save the city by killing a Titan.

Warning! Contains sooilers!!!
Revisado: 01-30-23
I have several objections to this book and Peace Talks. While I don't object to a single story being told over the course of more than one book, these two books have several flaws. In no particular order:
1) When voicing the character of Mabb, Marsters starts off by having her sound like Mother Winter. It isn't until we are MUCH farther in the story that he corrects this mistake.
2) Killing off Karen Murphy. Man that had me angry!! I'm still not happy about it . Especially HOW she died.
3) We have known for awhile that McCoy doesn't like the White Court but seriously he was never a frothing at the mouth zealot in his dislike for them. He seemed so very, very out of character.
4) Harry might not like the laws of magic but completely forgetting about them? Especially the 1st law, since he was under the Doom for so long for violating it. This isn't the only example of his also being out of character but it's one of the bigger ones.
5) Marcone might be a jerk but the one compromise that he would NEVER make is sharing his brain with a Knight of the Blackened DeMarcus. Out of character... big time.
6) At one point McCoy is killed, has his head ripped off and then tossed at the good guys. Then in the epilog he is suddenly alive???
I could write 5x more about all of the flaws in these two books but I think you get the idea. Butcher either needs to hire an editor or fire the current one because as you can see, some of these mistakes are epic in size.
While I strongly dislike how this story ended, I am not giving up on Jim Butcher just yet. I will continue to listen to his novels but if they don't improve, I will stop buying them and try to find a better author. Until now, the only author that I thought was better was Tolkein.

Slow start, Fantastic finish
Revisado: 06-23-22
I have read/listened to hundreds of novels throughout my life. Of all the authors that I have enjoyed, only J.R.R Tolkein and Jim Butcher rank higher. I have really enjoyed this series of books and can't wait to start the next one.

The Warden Morgan has been accused of treason against the Wizards of the White Council - and there's only one, final punishment for that crime. He's on the run, wants his name cleared, and needs someone with a knack for backing the underdog. Someone like Harry Dresden....

Argggh!
Revisado: 12-08-16
Normally, I would give a Dresden Files book 5 stars... but... hard for me to do when Butcher kills off no less than TWO established character! Maybe it's unrealistic but I like to see the good guys always win. ALWAYS.
