Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

Historia
One of Charles Bukowski's best, this beer-soaked, deliciously degenerate novel follows the wanderings of aspiring writer Henry Chinaski across World War II-era America. Deferred from military service, Chinaski travels from city to city, moving listlessly from one odd job to another, always needing money but never badly enough to keep a job. His day-to-day existence spirals into an endless litany of pathetic whores, sordid rooms, dreary embraces, and drunken brawls, as he makes his bitter, brilliant way from one drink to the next.

I havent a clue how something so brilliant can be rendered so deadpan and ugly. the prose hasnt been given any life with the way it was portrayed.

Historia
"It began as a mistake." By middle age, Henry Chinaski has lost more than 12 years of his life to the U.S. Postal Service. In a world where his three true, bitter pleasures are women, booze, and racetrack betting, he somehow drags his hangover out of bed every dawn to lug waterlogged mailbags up mud-soaked mountains, outsmart vicious guard dogs, and pray to survive the day-to-day trials of sadistic bosses and certifiable coworkers.

Historia
Of especially naughty children it is sometimes said, "They must have been raised by wolves." The Incorrigible children actually were. Turning sixteen is a bittersweet occasion for Miss Penelope Lumley: Her parents remain disappointingly absent, and her perfectly nice young playwright friend, Simon Harley-Dickinson, has not been heard from since he went to visit his ailing great-uncle Pudge in the old sailors' home in Brighton.

Loved the 80's and 90's referenced throughout. It really made me nostalgic. I hope that the younger generation will one day be as interested in the culture as is depicted in the book.

Entertaining for adults and children
Revisado: 11-05-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I thought this book was very entertaiing. I am a 30 year old woman and Mr Gaiman's story and preformance kept me engaged as if I were an enthralled adolescent. Conversely, this book would be great for any child as well. I highly recommend it to all.
Have you listened to any of Neil Gaiman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I love all of Mr. Gaiman's work
Any additional comments?
In particular, I appreciate when the author narrates their own work.

Historia
In July 1890, Vincent van Gogh went into a cornfield and shot himself. Or did he? Why would an artist at the height of his creative powers attempt to take his life... and then walk a mile to a doctor's house for help? Who was the crooked little "color man" Vincent had claimed was stalking him across France? And why had the painter recently become deathly afraid of a certain shade of blue? These are just a few of the questions confronting Vincent's friends who vow to discover the truth of van Gogh's untimely death.

Jumpy plot line. Hated it.
Revisado: 06-22-12
Any additional comments?
Just to much time skipping, I understand that it was a plot device but it proved to be quite distracting from what could have otherwise been an engaging story. I don't recommend and only kept listening because I'd paid for it.
