Great story, great progression, confusing end

I am sure that the ending is just a lead up to the next book, but it was a whiplash of an ending on an excellent progression/post-apocalyptic fiction. It does have me hooked though, and I will be getting the next book!

As my most anticipated upcoming listen this year, Fire and Song did not disappoint! I am greatly enjoying the personal growth of the characters as well as the new characters flowing into the orbit of the members of Firesong. The wait for book 3 will be long, but I am already eagerly awaiting it!

Each of the books of this series have approached a slightly different aspect of the game, and combined with the player’s real life trials makes for excellent reading/listening. I really REALLY hope there will be more books in this series!!

Picture Ryan Reynolds in a magical parallel universe

Like I wrote in the headline: Picture Ryan Reynolds (in just about any role he has ever been in) in a magical parallel universe.
That is what I keep thinking about as I listened to this book. The main character is so witty and the story so good, that I simply couldn’t turn it off. So funny I was constantly getting odd looks from my family as I was randomly chuckling while listening to it.

My favorite book! I read the kindle version when it first came out, then the paperback when it came out, and have now listened through the audiobook. Seriously. Such a good story. If you have not read this yet, stop what you are doing and go get it in your favorite format! Soo good! It reads a bit like Harry Potter, a bit like Ready Player One, with a tough of Epic SciFi too.

This is a fun read. I appreciate how the main character is not a perfect person, and how the game world is able to evolve. The antagonism with the game’s developer adds a nice twist to things. I am greatly looking forward to the next book!

While most gamelit type books are rather “crunchy” with stats, this book takes a different tactic in using game-like ideas. It is almost as if the idea of game like interfaces is being discovered as a part of the story. Even with that, there is very little stats, and that itself is a part of the story. It is very well-written, and I think my biggest disappointment with the book is that book 2 is not immediately available! :-) it is an excellent story, and I highly recommend it!
