Historia
An experiment in “re-wilding” the western United States and reviving the environment seems a stunning success—at first. A virus spread by the predators and prey relocated and now thriving in the West devastates the adult human population, raging out of control and reshaping the county. Cordoned off to separate the now much smaller populace from the dangers of virus-spreading wildlife, 100 years later, "National Park West" has become as wild as and even more dangerous than it was when Lewis and Clark first mapped the West.

I Never Write Reviews ...
Revisado: 06-09-24
I never write reviews but this is my second one for this author, Rebecca O'Connor, and the reader, Danielle Rayne. This is an adventure story that activates your imagination. It is the right balance of nature, relationships and environmental politics. Though it has a sci-fi undertone, having experienced the recent pandemic it has a very plausible feel. I like the way Rebecca writes and she has selected the perfect reader for her words

When Finished Immediately Listened Again
Revisado: 06-09-24
The minute I finished Far From Fearless I started listening to it again. The words are wise and the reader, Danielle Rayne, was a perfect match for these thoughtful essays. I highly recommend listening to the book but also buying it because it is beautifully illustrated by the author.

Historia
A Fine Romance begins with Bergen's charming first husband, French director Louis Malle, whose huge appetite for life broadened her horizons and whose occasional darkness never diminished their love for each other. But her real romance begins when she discovers overpowering love for her daughter after years of ambivalence about motherhood.

Any additional comments?
There seemed to be a lot of complaints about Candace reading her story. I normally listen to books at1.25x's and on this book I upped it to 1.5 x's and it improved the listening pleasure ten-fold!!

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.
