Horrible narration

Story, as with all of Mario Puzo’s books, was excellent. Characters well defined and broad arc of story very fascinating HOWEVER, one of the WORST narrations EVER. I actually had to slow narration down to bear it. All of the character voices were just as bad. Initially I didn’t think I could make it thru, but the story drew me in,

More romance than thriller

Very disappointing. So many eyes brimming w tears, waterfalls of hair. I was hoping for Hoag’s thriller chops to prevail, but it never happened. The book never really took off. It didn’t even make for a good Romantic novel, which is what it basically was. Truly boring

This author, bless her heart, cannot write. And the narrator did nothing to vitalize the material. Had to listen to it at 2x speed and still skipped a lot of chapters.

I made it through to the end of this book, but it was not the book I was anticipating. There was very little about the actual murders and even less about the victims or the impact the crimes had upon their lives. While there was a bit more about the lead detective, the book was basically about the political atmosphere within the San Francisco Police Dept during that era. It gave an decent overview of what was happening in general, socially and politically during that tempestuous decade, but that is not what I was looking for. The book barely held my attention and the guy who narrated spoke so fast and without pause that I actually tried to listen to it at a lower speed. That didn't work, so I suffered through. This book doesn't really belong in the true crime genre. I don't know where it should be....

This book was so-so, with a very unsatisfactory ending. The voice of ginger was so vapid and syrupy I could barely stand listening to it. And I like most things
