Historia
When the treasured 15th century Cherringham Chalice is stolen from St. James, it looks at first like the work of a professional gang, robbing local churches. But Jack and Sarah realise that there must have been someone on the inside, helping the thieves - and they start to investigate. Can it really be possible that a member of the church council is guilty? Soon Jack and Sarah discover that even in this world of trust and faith there can be secrets, lies ... and real danger.

Love this series!

The plots are always clever, and the narration amazing! Plus, the novella length keeps things moving along smartly. More, please!

Historia
As India celebrates the arrival of a momentous new decade, Inspector Persis Wadia stands vigil in the basement of Malabar House, home to the city's most unwanted unit of police officers. Difficult to like
Revisado: 07-26-24
The main character, the first female police officer in India, is a driven, socially inept young woman, assigned as Inspector to handle the investigation into the death of an influential British citizen. Plot has lots of twists and turns, and unexpected developments...but Persis as a character was hard to like, therefore hard to care about her success...though it was assumed.

Excellent narration

Patrick Tull always does a fabulous job narrating the Brother Cadfael mysteries. And the stories and characters are always memorable, offering both insights into this historical period and human nature.

Just when you think you have it figured out, Agatha throws in a twist you never saw coming! It was delightful to discover this new-to-me old book from truly the mistress of mystery... and Hugh Fraser's narration was perfection.

just okay
Revisado: 04-30-24
Author seems to have never learned alternatives to "said"... gets extremely irtitatiing....short line of dialog, "he said", then short dialog and again, "she said." Reading the text, you might be able to ignore this, but the Audible version makes it all too noticeable.

Historia
Towards Zero: What is the connection among a failed suicide attempt, a wrongful accusation of theft against a schoolgirl, and the romantic life of a famous tennis player? To the casual observer, apparently nothing. But when a house party gathers at Gull’s Point, the seaside home of an elderly widow, earlier events come to a dramatic head. Ordeal By Innocence: According to the courts, Jacko Argyle bludgeoned his mother to death with a poker. The sentence was life imprisonment.

Historia
1914, Fiji: 25-year-old Akal Singh would rather be anywhere but this tropical paradise—or, as he calls it, “this godforsaken island.” After a promising start to his police career in his native India and Hong Kong, Akal has been sent to Fiji as punishment for a humiliating professional mistake. Lonely and grumpy, Akal plods through his work and dreams of getting back to Hong Kong. When an indentured Indian woman goes missing from a sugarcane plantation and Fiji’s newspapers scream “kidnapping,” the inspector-general reluctantly assigns Akal the case.

Enjoyable!
Revisado: 10-03-23
This was a very interesting introduction to a period of history I knew little about. The blatant racism of the Europeans towards both those of Fijian and Indian descent was clearly portrayed. I liked the characters, and hope there will be more books by this author!

Historia
Lady Adelaide Compton had prepared herself to say good-bye forever to Detective Inspector Devenand Hunter. It would be a welcome relief not to get mixed up in any more murders, even if it meant never working alongside the handsome detective again...wouldn't it? But then Addie's prim and proper mother, Constance, the Dowager Marchioness of Broughton, is accused of murdering her secret lover, and there can't be enough gentlemen detectives on hand to find the truth.

Fuzzy recording
Revisado: 11-18-22
Dick Francis is always a great story teller, but this recording is a travesty! It's fuzzy and even has crackles like a bad phone connection...sounds like it was recorded with a sheet of paper over the microphone! Really ruins the experience.
