Historia
Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Historia
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

More amazing than the first
Revisado: 05-13-14
What did you love best about Words of Radiance?
The characters. Journeying with them from their humble beginnings in the first book, things really start coming together in this one. I found myself cheering for the good guys, and jeering at the bad ones, waiting for their come uppance.
What does Michael Kramer and Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
These two really nail the characters, in my opinion. Both are top notch readers, with Michael edging out Kate only a bit. They add to the story, enhancing it's richness and detail.
Any additional comments?
What a fantastic book. I could barely stop listening to it, and I'm already impatient for the next one. I loved the characters, the setting, the scripted dialogue and the readers. For many hours, I found myself swept up in this epic tale, eager to hear what happens next.
I'm amazed by Sanderson. I only wish he would have been the one to write the Dragon Reborn series from the beginning, I think it would have been much better.
Whereas some of his books, like Elantris, tend to drag on and become bogged down in details, this one flows like the river of imagination itself. Highly recommended.

Five days a week he coaxes his old Hyundai to life, curses the Los Angeles traffic, and clocks in at his job as a handyman at the local college. But when he sleeps, George dreams of something more. George dreams of flying. He dreams of fighting monsters. He dreams of a man made of pure lightning, an armored robot, a giant in an army uniform, a beautiful woman who moves like a ninja.

Worst book of the series
Revisado: 05-13-14
What disappointed you about Ex-Purgatory?
There was no plot development or anything really interesting about this particular book. Whereas all the others had a good flow and were quite entertaining, this one is just stuck in the "dreamworld" and details the characters efforts to break out of it. I was hoping for more progress for these survivors. Perhaps a new villain.
How could the performance have been better?
The performance was great, as always. The narrator has a certain "comic book announcers" voice that is expressive and clear. He puts emotion in the right spots and always ADDS to the books flow, rather than detracting from it as some do.
Any additional comments?
The first few books of this series were WAY more fun than I thought they would be. The characters are fun, the stories are good, and I felt myself wondering "what happens next?".
Then I heard this book and was quite disappointed. I hope the next one is much better or I won't be continuing to listen to the series, which would be a shame.

A decent read
Revisado: 05-13-14
Any additional comments?
This book was enjoyable to listen to, the narrator did a good job. The story isn't bad, but plays out a lot like the typical who-done-it mystery. What I enjoyed most about this listen was the imagination that was put into the various creatures that inhabit this alter world. There are a couple of well scripted moments that gave me some great visuals in my head and made me feel like I was there, witnessing something otherworldly.
But overall, this doesn't rate more than 3 stars in my book. It just doesn't stand out in the way that some of the other series I listen to do.

Any additional comments?
This series is a highly entertaining, tongue-in-cheek adventure of a modern-day druid. The back and forth dialogue between him and his dog are especially humorous, and the action is paced well. I'd recommend this for a lighter audience, as the books are fairly short.

46 hours of absolute fantasy bliss. Written cleverly and most entertaining. I had a hard time getting into the first book, but stuck with it and by the 1/2 way mark I was indelibly hooked.
The author is incredibly clever and tells the story in such a way that it doesn't sound exactly like every other fantasy script. The details and depth of daily life are just enough to keep you in the realm and add realism without being tedious. Overall, I absolutely loved this series and I can't wait for the last one. No really. I can't wait.
