Character development completely lost

Callie, is treated like a child by her great aunt. Ace, her +/- partner that supposedly presented a relationship in book 2 was gone. Instead the partner is dismissive, ordering her about and then is overwhelmed. Why is the main character put in emotionally unstable relationships over and over again? Why is she afraid of interacting with people from fear of the partner? Why do the main characters, strong women, all of a sudden lose the ability to speak, have critical thinking and a voice when a dominant partner is in the storyline?

Sadie’s personality has changed

The previous books presented Sadie as a calm, compassionate woman that investigated crimes. In this book Sadie seemed short with people and snippy. The narration changed so much that Sadie’s personality has changed and made her impatient and edgy.
The overall premise of the story is well written and enjoyable.

Sophie continues to keep Old Town Alexandria interesting with her friendships, party planning, delicious breakfasts, mouth watering dinners, and investigative work. There is always a twist in determining the murderer up until the end. I keep hoping Sophie will end up back with Mars!
