Historia
On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Somewhat long
Revisado: 04-23-19
I typically love to listen to Stephen King's books on audible. I would have to say this story was a bit long and drawn out. I often would forget which character was who in the narrative. I love the concise descriptions and believable storyline that King is so good at. I may have enjoyed it more if I had read the book rather than listen to it.

Great story

I love the characters and the believable descriptions of each person. I would question different aspects of the story, but the answers were always forthcoming. I like this author and am pleased with anything she writes.

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-04-17
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, very slow and tiresome. I was looking forward to this book because I love the author's other books. It is too bad that Nan Gurley was the narrator. I think someone else would have made the difference.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Too be honest, I never finished listening to it. I tried several times, but could not handle the long drawn out tedious descriptions.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Nan Gurley?
Angela Brazil
What would have made this romance irresistible?
A faster pace and more tension between the two main characters.

Historia
For nurse Ginger Martin, her late husband's farm is both a treasured legacy and the harbinger of an uncertain future. Since he was recently killed in Iraq, every day is fraught with grief that won't abate. Keeping the farm going and nourishing her children's hopes without him seems as impossible as having dreams for the future - or going back into the past.

disappointing
Revisado: 12-05-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The main character was never able to find closure. The events that transpired did not seem relevant to her situation as a widow.
What could Nicole R. Dickson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
The unreality of the situations that the main character found herself in. Everything from finding a man from the Civil War to allowing her children to operate her farm did not seem believable in any way. Understanding that this was a fantastic tale that couldn't happen did not allow the reader or listener to enter into the story. I tried over and over to connect with the characters, but never was able to.
How could the performance have been better?
The performance was ok what with the material given.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Frustration in every sense of the word.
Any additional comments?
I will not read or listen to any more literature by this author.

disappointing
Revisado: 09-11-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The explicit sexual descriptions were unnecessary.
What was most disappointing about Rachael Herron’s story?
The story had so much potential, but including all of the main characters sexual encounters detracted and maligned the story.
Have you listened to any of Carrington MacDuffie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I'm not sure. The performance was well done.
Do you think How to Knit a Love Song needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I would like to see a follow up book, but concentrating more on the fun elements of knitting and yarn.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

excellent story
Revisado: 07-02-14
Where does Sycamore Row rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is by far one of the best I've heard. I love all of Grisham's books though.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, it was mesmerizing because of the setting and twists that this author is famous for.
Which character – as performed by Michael Beck – was your favorite?
Judge Atley
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
no, Ilike to pace this type of book out so I can make it last longer.
Any additional comments?
I just wish that Grisham would put a new book out more quickly, also glad he is back to what he does best. I was not a fan of Bleachers and Painted House.
