Historia
Calla has always welcomed war. But now that the final battle is upon her, there's more at stake than fighting. There's saving Ren, even if it incurs Shay's wrath. There's keeping Ansel safe, even if he's been branded a traitor. There's proving herself as the pack's alpha, facing unnamable horrors, and ridding the world of the Keepers' magic once and for all. And then there's deciding what to do when the war ends. If Calla makes it out alive, that is.

Not the ending I expected!
Revisado: 03-03-12
I'm a little sad that this series is over, but I'm happy to say that it was not predictable. Usually I can see the conclusion from a mile away, but I have to say that I really didn't know what the crap was going to happen until I got to the last chapter.
Rebecca Lowman is awesome. She has a pretty distinct voice (I wanna say mid-west-ish...?) and she really breathes life into the story. I think she's one of the reasons I enjoyed this series so much.
Andrea Cremer weaves quite a story. There's action (scuba diving), romance (love triangle) and multi-dimensional characters. Usually, in a series, the author feels the need to re-explain some of the basic plot twists that took place in earlier books and I always find it kind of annoying... I mean, if I'm reading book three I obviously read books one and two. My point is that Ms.Cremer does a minimal amount of backtracking, which I find refreshing.
I officially recommend this book, NAY- this series.

Deborah Harkness’s sparkling debut, A Discovery of Witches, has brought her into the spotlight and galvanized fans around the world. In this tale of passion and obsession, Diana Bishop, a young scholar and a descendant of witches, discovers a long-lost and enchanted alchemical manuscript, Ashmole 782, deep in Oxford's Bodleian Library. Its reappearance summons a fantastical underworld, which she navigates with her leading man, vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont.

Good, Not Great.
Revisado: 03-03-12
I think this book was a smart take on a very trendy genre.
The narrator is great, she switches from one accent to another effortlessly and her cadence makes listening a pleasure. She is definitely one of my favs.
The premise of the story was great, and for the first 3/4 of the book I couldn't stop listening... but then I got a little bored with all the logistics. I'd still recommend this book, and I'm sure I'll make time for the sequel- it just wasn't a five-star listen.
In short- the writing was great, the narrator was marvelous, the story was just trying a little too hard.

Perfect, picturesque Orchard Hill. It was the last thing Ally Ryan saw in the rear-view mirror as her mother drove them out of town and away from the shame of the scandal her father caused when his hedge fund went south and practically bankrupted all their friends -- friends that liked having trust funds and new cars, and that didn't like constant reminders that they had been swindled. So it was adios, Orchard Hill. Thanks for nothing.

Really Great.
Revisado: 12-14-10
I loved this book! It was fun and entertaining. The narrators where fantastic which was refreshing because an annoying narrator can really ruin an audio book- no matter how good the story is (and this story is pretty great). I'm anxious for the sequel!

Before that morning, these were the words most often used to describe straight-A student and star soccer player Devon Davenport: responsible, hardworking, mature. But all that changes when the police find Devon home sick from school as they investigate the case of an abandoned baby.

Waste of Time and Money
Revisado: 10-29-10
I don't know what made me buy this book in the first place- but I'm sorry I did. The main character is whiny and unrelatable and the writing is choppy at best. The writer just focused on the wrong part of the story; I know the book is called "After" but I think it would have been semi-readable if she'd given us a better idea of what came "Before". I get the sense that I'm supposed to like the main character but everything the writer tells us about her is absolutely unlikeable. I think the author's editors did her a disservice- this story had potential but it flopped.
Better luck next time!

Not what you expect
Revisado: 08-26-10
I suppose I'm with the other reviewers who said this book wasn't exactly what the media hyped it up to be. I guess my assumption was that this would be a straight-forward murder-mystery with all the applicable twists and turns, but it wasn't. Actually, I found this book to be surprisingly intellectual (over my head at times, but the author makes catching up fairly easy w/o being obvious) and riveting. The story is involved to say the least- it's obvious that the author put a lot of time and thought into the characters and story that haunt this book, and his efforts don't go unnoticed as he pulls the reader in and really forces you/me/the reader to identify with the who, what and why of this novel. The book starts off slow (all the books in this series follow the same pattern) but keep reading and I promise you, you won't be disappointed.
Honestly, I think the narrator (Simon Vance) bumps this audiobook from a 4-star rating to a 5-star rating; the voices he does are subtle but effective and his inflection is spot-on. If you like this installment, I encourage you to listen to the next two- you won't regret it.
