Historia
On 25 June, 1950, the invasion of South Korea by the Communist North launched one of the bloodiest conflicts of the last century. The seemingly limitless power of the Chinese-backed North was thrown against the ferocious firepower of the UN-backed South in a war that can be seen today as the stark prelude to Vietnam.

Favorite Words for the Few
Revisado: 01-22-20
Notwithstanding Mr. Hastings' "insouciance" for American accomplishments during the war, nor his "desultory" approach to events of 1945-1950 regarding the far east, politically and militarily, or his "obduracy" in promoting British accomplishments, take anything away from this well researched, enlightening and quite informative account of the "forgotten war". It is a shame that this exceptionally well written and researched account was not published prior to 1961, as it, quite possibly, could have mitigated the Vietnam debacle.

Historia
A masterful biography of the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations during World War II, Citizen Soldiers provides a compelling account of the extraordinary stories of ordinary men in their fight for democracy. From the high command on down to the enlisted men, Stephen E. Ambrose draws on hundreds of interviews and oral histories from men on both sides who were there.

Not propaganda, focused view
Revisado: 01-30-19
Mr. Ambrose has done a fine job of culling the facts and critically assessing performance that cuts through the propaganda contained in most historical accounts and text of this cataclysmic world event.
