Historia
For two thousand years, cadavers have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. They've tested France's first guillotines, ridden the NASA Space Shuttle, been crucified in a Parisian laboratory to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, and helped solve the mystery of TWA Flight 800. For every new surgical procedure, from heart transplants to gender reassignment surgery, cadavers have been there alongside surgeons, making history in their quiet way.

Fascinating, & one of the best narrators
Revisado: 07-18-11
I was a little uncomfortable throughout the whole book, and sadly reminded of my 21 year old pet who died in my arms last year. Ms. Roach steers clear of "death" throughout most of the book, but it's always lurking in the background. However, I think next time I am in the presence of the corpse of a loved one, I will feel a larger separation between them, and the cadaver in front of me.
The author really takes the topic on fearlessly on all our behalves, absolutely worth the credits.

Historia
We are accustomed to think of sociopaths as violent criminals, but in The Sociopath Next Door, Harvard psychologist Martha Stout reveals that a shocking 4 percent of ordinary people, one in 25, has an often undetected mental disorder, the chief symptom of which is that that person possesses no conscience. He or she has no ability whatsoever to feel shame, guilt, or remorse. One in 25 everyday Americans, therefore, is secretly a sociopath.

you probably need to get this book!
Revisado: 07-18-11
I didn't feel ready to diagnose someone as a sociopath after finishing this book, but I did take some great messages about taking care of myself away with me. Whether it was the authors intention or not, by telling the stories of the victims of sociopaths she made me feel better about some of the bridges I've burned in my life. Because I have a conscience, there are some people I still felt bad about ejecting from my world, but Ms. Stout is right, after 3 lies, run!
So good, thank-you.

Historia
With the Beauty Killer Gretchen Lowell locked away behind bars once again, Archie Sheridan—a Portland police detective and nearly one of her victims—can finally rest a little easier. Meanwhile, the rest of the city of Portland is in crisis. Heavy rains have flooded the Willamette River, and several people have drowned in the quickly rising waters. Or at least that’s what they thought until the medical examiner discovers that the latest victim didn’t drown: She was poisoned before she went into the water.

a new direction
Revisado: 07-18-11
yes, there's no Gretchen in this book, but I didn't mind, we spend the whole book with Susan and Archie and got to know them better. I felt like the author used this novel to set-up some new stories for our beloved characters down the road, which I am looking forward to. I missed the previous narrator for all of 5min, yes she was great, but Christina Delaine made it her own. I will be keeping my eye out for the next installment, here's hoping there is one!

Historia
As a teenager, it was never Sam Pulsifer's intention to torch an American landmark, and he certainly never planned to kill two people in the blaze. To this day, he still wonders why that young couple was upstairs in bed in the Emily Dickinson House after hours. After serving 10 years in prison for his crime, Sam is determined to put the past behind him. His low-profile life is chugging along quite nicely until the past comes crashing through his front door.

don't miss it!
Revisado: 07-13-10
I cannot understand the reviews of others of this book, I was enchanted and bespelled by this perfectly bizarre story, when I don't have any new books on my Ipod, and I find myself on a plane or something, this is my go to audiobook, I can listen to the story, and the fantastic narrator over and over again. Definitely download this book!
