Historia
Two years ago, a hostile Prime Minister launched the Monochrome inquiry, investigating "historical over-reaching" by the British Secret Service “to investigate historical over-reaching.” Monochrome’s mission was to ferret out any hint of misconduct by any MI5 officer—and allowed Griselda Fleet and Malcolm Kyle, the two civil servants seconded to the project, unfettered access to any and all confidential information in the Service archives in order to do so. But MI5’s formidable First Desk did not become Britain’s top spy by accident, and she has successfully thwarted the inquiry at every turn.

Revisado: 08-30-24
This was an incredible book. Sadly, I only understood about 52% of it. I could blame it on the multiple names for each character or the back and forth time frames. OK it’s just me. 😏

Enjoyed the action from police dogs.
Revisado: 05-19-24
Narrator detracted from the story with her overdramatic, breathless reading and inappropriate phrasing. This could have been a five star review otherwise. .

When pieces of a dismembered body crop up around Crozet, however, the wary townsfolk reckon the handsome stranger is the culprit.

Why?
Revisado: 07-30-23
I’m trying to remember why I bought this book, assume it was a daily deal. It in no way parallels my favorite genre - mystery and thriller. It was OK, but so far removed from what I am used to, that a true review would not be possible.

Historia
In 1885 Jane and Leland Stanford cofounded a university to honor their recently deceased young son. After her husband's death in 1893, Jane Stanford, a devoted spiritualist who expected the university to inculcate her values, steered Stanford into eccentricity and public controversy for more than a decade. In 1905 she was murdered in Hawaii, a victim, according to the Honolulu coroner's jury, of strychnine poisoning.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

I rarely review, but had to comment on the negative reviews that used the words “unbelievable” “not realistic” “hard to accept”. Hello people, it’s FICTION. Just relax and enjoy. I did.

Maybe I’m too critical
Revisado: 11-13-22
I know the books came before the TV series, but I wish they could do a ‘do over’ regarding Barnaby and Troy’s dispositions. They are entirely too grumpy, even rude. I prefer the TV characters.
