Wonderful history and reform ideas

As a longtime user of Kahn Academy, both as a student and now as a teacher, it was fun for me to learn the background and history of what has become an invaluable tool for self-paced learning. Sal's voice is familiar and I'm so glad he read the book himself. From my recent roles of both teacher and parent, I paid close attention to his reform recommendations, including multi-age classrooms, only 1-2 hours per day spent on computers (and supported with access to adult and peer tutors), and giving time to allow students to pursue their passions. I highly recommend this book and Kahn Academy!

Informative and well thought out

I really enjoyed listening to this book and found that it was a comprehensive look at some of the modern child development research which contradicts many "common sense" beliefs about parenting and child development.

Another Doctor who claims to pull back the curtain

Kelly Brogan uses her MD to sell her holistic methods while failing to understand studies. She claims in the intro that she's not a conspiracy theorist, yet she then goes on to cry wolf about 3g cell phone radiation and flouride in our water without sufficient studies on harm. For some of her claims, she's willing to share the sources and look at the studies, but for many things she just handwaved the need for proof with phrases like, "it's well documented" and "research shows". Unfortunately, this leads to a book that sells you truths and half truths with the unsubstantiated chaff. It's convincing sounding, yet lacking in logical consistency.

Helpful and well put together

I really liked this book and, as a teacher, I hope to put several aspects into practice in the classroom, including class meetings, more one on one time with each student, counting for unwanted behaviors and helping students with their motivation for start behaviors.

Unbelievably awful...

I am a science fiction fan through and through, reading Isaac Asimov with my father and greatly enjoying the universes of Tolkein, Sanderson, etc. I thought I would like 20,000 Leagues. Maybe I still will in print form, but this audiobook was unbearable.

Excellent book! I love Oscar Wilde's work.

This book was fascinating and had the same wit and charm as Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest. I look forward to reading more of Wilde's writing.

In the last few minutes, she comments on aging

She is a wonderful storyteller, well worth a listen. Her reflections on aging were most striking to me given the recent celebrity suicides.

Great language learning audio books!

I've really enjoyed listening and following along with Paul Nobles/ Collins Learn Spanish audio books part one and two. I have listened twice to the first part and I've just completed the second part for the first time. I'm already hearing compliments on my pronunciation and skill with sounding like a Spanish speaker, even though I know I have a lot left to learn! I'm excited to keep up with my Spanish and listen to part two a second time!

I highly recommend this language learning resource. It's very clear and effective with simple instructions at the beginning. The only missing component is clear indication of how long the sections will take you, so you can know when you're about to be done with one of the CDs.
