He will leave behind his beloved aunt and grandparents to reunite with a mother who left four years ago and a father he barely remembers. Amazing, heartbreaking, beautiful story

A wonderfully told story of survival, hope, courage, and love. Beautiful language and imagery throughout. Clearly this young man was destined to survive and become a poet.

Honest & hopeful story about recovery
Revisado: 12-11-22
I enjoyed this book and appreciate the humility and honesty the author brought to his story of serious drug and alcohol addiction. The lows are very low and yet he never glosses over the cost he’s paid for his selfishness and mistakes. He’s grown into a better person and his story offers a lot of hope to other sufferers. Heartfelt, moving and even funny at times. Worth the read (listen).

Historia
Pat Conroy was America's poet laureate of family dysfunction. A larger-than-life character and the author of such classics as The Prince of Tides and The Great Santini, Conroy was remembered by everybody for his energy, his exuberance, and his self-lacerating humor. Michael Mewshaw's The Lost Prince is an intimate memoir of his friendship with Pat Conroy, one that involves their families and those days in Rome when they were both young - when Conroy went from being a popular regional writer to an internationally best-selling author.

Wonderful story of friendship and heartache
Revisado: 12-06-22
Fantastic memoir with great writing and a fascinating story of friendship between two writers who shared difficult childhoods; it reveals so much about both men, including their genius and heartache, but mostly their enduring bond.

Historia
The story of Maya Angelou’s extraordinary life has been chronicled in her multiple best-selling autobiographies. But now, at last, the legendary author shares the deepest personal story of her life: her relationship with her mother. For the first time, Angelou reveals the triumphs and struggles of being the daughter of Vivian Baxter, an indomitable spirit whose petite size belied her larger-than-life presence - a presence absent during much of Angelou’s early life.

Amazing story wonderfully told. A must listen!
Revisado: 07-18-18
We stayed up late over many nights listening to the brilliant, funny, and charming Maya Angelou, telling this astonishing tale of her unique and fearless mother. Touching and inspiring, this story of endless love and redemption is one for the ages, and should be listened to every mother, daughter, father and son. I’m so grateful that Ms. Angelou left readers this final installment of her autobiographical legacy—and the audio version is a true blessing. It captures the heart, soul, and passion of this unparalleled storyteller, a quintessential American success story.
