Historia
The battle of Hammon's Bog is over. The town is free, the undead destroyed, the Witches slain, and the surviving villagers are picking up the remains of their lives. Despite his scars and constant nightmares, Brin is doing his best to move on from the battle against the undead. He's looking to the future, but his past might not be done with him yet. Soon Brin will learn that not every Witch who tormented him is gone for good, and he won't be able to depend on Hogg and Lumina to protect him in places they cannot reach.

The Gailen accent is pure aural torture
Revisado: 04-18-25
The rest of the book is just fine, but the Gailen accent used in the Epilogue is so bad it sounds like a record playing in reverse. If the character Gailen has any dialogue in the next book please choose a different accent. I get not wanting a scottish or english accent but literally anything is better than what I just heard. It's dealbreaker bad.

Historia
Bruce Silver is the author of the Riftbreaker novels, one of the most popular, beloved fantasy book series of all time. He's got everything he's ever dreamed of having: freedom to tell the stories he wants to tell, legions of enthusiastic fans who wait eagerly to see what he'll write next, and a really nice car. But despite all that, Bruce finds himself dissatisfied, battling an ennui he can't quite put his finger on. So he decides to do what anyone would do in his situation: burn it all down by unexpectedly killing off Carpathian Einzgear, Riftbreaker's cherished hero.

Didn't finish, couln't finish
Revisado: 12-16-24
Johnathan McClain is a fantastic narrator. The pace of this story does the narration a massive disservice. Very little progression occurs in this story.
It's 80% meandering internal dialogue being shouted into your ears for over 20 hours. Lanterns are repeatedly hung on the MC's penchant for meandering internal dialogue, but instead of curtailing it the author leans into it more and hangs another lantern on the length and volume of the meandering internal, utterly devoid of connection to the story, dialogue.
The shouting is really well acted, but a person can only take so much. If even half of the shouting was used to progress the story then this would have been a far better production.

Historia
A Secret Service operative and dedicated survivalist, Special Agent Del Roosevelt had a plan for every world-ending scenario and regularly trained for them all. He was even ready for a date with the hottest woman in his office next Friday. At least he hoped so. But all that training, all those rations, all that prepping? Useless for the apocalypse that actually played out. Del wakes up half-buried in a giant trash pile, missing his thumbs. And, um, covered in red fur. He's stuck in a world of fuzzy monsters, senseless violence, and cult-like crusaders.

Too long, too short, not good.
Revisado: 10-07-24
This was a rather tedious read that I struggled to finish. I didn't think I'd ever say that about a Eric Ugland book but here we are. You know how occasionally Eric will dialogue wander in Good Guys or Bad Guys? This book is mostly just that, while taking place in one setting. The dialogue is excruciating to get through, but if you remove it (the way a proper editor should have), this book would be about ten pages long.
Skip it. This book is garbage. It's also written like it wants to be a new series which is going to be a hard pass from me dog.

Historia
The sun is bloated, diseased, dying perhaps. Beneath its baneful light, Shadrapar, last of all cities, harbours fewer than 100,000 human souls. Built on the ruins of countless civilisations, Shadrapar is a museum, a midden, an asylum, a prison on a world that is ever more alien to humanity. Bearing witness to the desperate struggle for existence between life old and new is Stefan Advani: rebel, outlaw, prisoner, survivor.

Not a bad book, but hard to tell if it was good
Revisado: 04-02-24
The problem is the narration. A lot of the time the narrator starts his sentences with a really high pitched note. It's not every sentence but it's frequent enough that you start to notice it, and then quickly start to loathe it which frequently lifts you out of the story to wonder what's the matter with the narrator. David Thorpe's reading is otherwise pretty good. Enjoyable even.

First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

Not good
Revisado: 03-11-24
The narration's good, this book isn't. The only time I've ever seen complaints about a narrator swap it's when the new narrator is terrible (Altered Carbon book 3). That's not this. John is good.
I guess I shouldn't say the story is good or bad, but more of a very boring, annoying chore. For how whiny and full of self doubt the MC is he sure gets things done, but only after you get to hear about ALL of his self doubts, all the time, every time.
Also I despise time reset tropes to the point I never buy books based on them, so.. that gripe is on me, but the first book was fine so I hoped it wouldn't be that bad. It was. gg series I'm out.

Then, during a deadly trainwreck, he was transported to another reality. On the world of Regaia, Gabe is a different person entirely: a massively jacked-up warrior orc known as Loon. The dud has become a stud.

I enjoyed it however
Revisado: 07-23-23
90% of this book is just ONE fight sequence. You could entirely skip this book and not miss a single thing. That's not an exaggeration.
I enjoy the slapstick, the banter, but not the story. It's like reading a saturday morning cartoon. It's fun and has a place, but I need way more meat on the bone.

15.5 straight hours of slice of life
Revisado: 06-10-23
This is very boring school slice of life for the first 15.5 hours of the book. Literally nothing noteworthy happens until the last 1.5 hours, and the ending is as predictable as the book is boring.
Also none of the events of book 1 appear in book 2.
This entire book could have been written in ten chapters. I can't imagine what the author was thinking when they published this garbage.
