Historia
My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Tedious and Boring
Revisado: 03-13-24
33 hours remaining and I had to stop. I didn’t care about any of the characters. The book was long winded and boring with nothing of importance happening or if there was it’s not worth waiting for.

They struggle to comprehend their Creator’s plan while their angel wings, a symbol of their angelic lineage, slowly and painfully decay. With no hope of returning to the Shining Kingdom, two groups of angels denounce their angelic lineage and develop into separate factions - the Court of Light, led by Queen Aurora, a former Virtue Angel, and the Court of Dark, ruled by King Jarvok, a former Power Brigade Angel.

Depressing
Revisado: 01-17-23
Couldn’t make it past chapter 5. Depressing story. May be better on paper. I like these narrators but not for this story. Their narration overdid the desolation giving me no reason to continue reading.

Historia
I wish more of the nudges that shaped history were the gentle kind—the signing of a treaty, the commitment to protect the weak, the spreading of a story that would enlighten minds. Alas, humans are more prone to stagnate than to change willingly, and so most nudges are given with force and terror and blood. Most nudges come at the slicing of a blade or the searing of a flame. The final chapters of Sable’s beginning certainly did. More blades than I hope to see again, and the fire…who could ever forget the fire?

Missed opportunity
Revisado: 01-05-23
Storyline had so much potential but was very repetitive and had too much detail on unimportant events. End of conflict was unimaginative and hasty. Ending of the book was too drawn out and boring. So many missed opportunities.

Good story Bad narration
Revisado: 12-22-21
Good story but no reason to have so many narrators. And several narrators were terrible from the always desperate to the monotone. Additionally volume would noticeably change between chapters. One good narrator would have made all the difference. Now at the end of this book just don’t care what happens to any of the characters. A good book gone bad.

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 05-05-20
Not sure how I got through the first book. Barely into the second when I gave up, The narrator is terrible. Ends EVERY sentence with a rising inflection. Every frigging sentence. Just because you can speak doesn't mean you should narrate.

Hard to tell if the story is good because the narrator was so bad. Could not get thru chapter 2. First book was great. Should have kept that narrator.

A whiny book
Revisado: 07-21-18
Story was very interesting but the over the top voices made listening to the book unemployable. Almost gave up several times but fast forwarded through the remainder of the book. I suspect this book is much better in print. As intriguing as the storyline is, I will not be listening to the remainder of the series.

Boring
Revisado: 12-19-17
Boring and convoluted. Couldn't make it though 1/4 of the book. Spending another 40 hours would have been excruciating. So much minutia without moving the story along.
Love most of Sanderson's books. Unfortunately he seems to have written this story to fit 10 books. Ten books is not an accomplishment if the story sucks.

just don't care what happens
Revisado: 12-21-15
Made it 2/3 of the way through just because I had read other reviews that said it was worth the wait. Today I stopped waiting. So much senseless, graphic violence; no explanation, no clues.
Too many characters, new and old; too many plotlines.
Definitely not worth the wait for me. Realized I just don't care what happens anymore.

Carolyn's not so different from the other human beings around her. After all, she was a normal American herself once. That was a long time ago, of course - before the time she calls "adoption day", when she and a dozen other children found themselves being raised by a man they learned to call Father.

Too bizarre
Revisado: 10-19-15
Narrator was very good considering the story she had to tell.
Had to quit about half way through. Book was too bizarre and more graphic and violent than is my taste. Not sure, and don't care, what the point of the book was but definitely not recommended.
