Historia
Georgie, back home at her estate in Eynsleigh, impatiently awaits the birth of her baby. But she has plenty to occupy her: Her new chef, Pierre, has arrived from Paris, and Sir Hubert, who owns Eynsleigh, is back from his latest expedition. It's time for Georgie to throw her first house party to celebrate his return and show off her new chef. The dinner party is a smashing success. Sir Mortimer Mordred—famous author of creepy Gothic horror novels—is one of the guests. He recently purchased a nearby Elizabethan manor nearby because it has a famous poison garden.

Slow story
Revisado: 03-13-25
I have enjoyed previous books in this series but found this one to be quite slow with repetitive dialogue. Seems more trite than previous books in the series. The performance was overdone and annoying.

Historia
Medical examiner Laura Hanning has two charred corpses and no answers. Both bear mysterious tattoos but exhibit no known cause of death. Their only connection to one another is a string of puzzling miracle cures. Her preliminary investigation points to a cult in the possession of the fabled panacea - the substance that can cure all ills - but that's impossible.

Good story
Revisado: 12-30-16
Interesting, kept my attention. A little far fetched and predictable but still a book I would recommend.

Historia
It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's 60 years old.

I love the model of Father Tim as he nourishes his parish and also struggles with unforeseen and complicated personal problems. An uplifting model with real life errors and temptations. This story makes me see grace in action. It gives me a more forgiving spirit.

Historia
Eight hundred women and children begin a 1,200-mile journey on foot across Japanese-occupied Malaya. At journey’s end, only 30 will still be alive. This is the story of one woman, of her ordeal, and of how she was saved by the sacrifice of an Australian soldier. It is a story of rare individual courage in the face of certain death, and hope in the face of despair.

Characters to love
Revisado: 02-03-15
I enjoyed knowing these characters. The last half was a little predictable but a pleasant adventure. Loved seeing the cultured that were a part of the story.

Man of Property
Revisado: 02-05-09
I feel very misled to purchase this book - extremely hard to listen to, very sarcastic, dry narrative. I would like to give it back! I have no idea what the story was about - could not stay with it long enough to find out.
