The story was captivating. The K-9’s were fascinating. I loved this book! I wish the rest of the series was available in Audible!

The story is cute but has a shadow element of another author’s series. This is the second series I have found that has this predictable similarities. Yes, there are differences so it’s not a complete copycat but it is obvious.

The reader is not believable either. She sounds too young. She does not have the serious voice of someone who would have had experience as an ex-spy. As a character portrayal it would have been okay but the narration is lacking the authority and knowledge of the world the protagonist comes from.

This series also lacks the levity that would help the improve the enjoyment of setting and characters. Then again it might have taken it closer the OG series similarities.

It’s okay for light listening and it’s good that it is free from Audible. It fills the time with just enough curiosity factor to finish the listen.

Surprise ending

I enjoyed the heated characters. I can usually spot the killer Long before the climax. This one completely caught me by surprise. Fun!

This is my favorite book series

This is my 2nd favorite book in this series. The Valley of the Horses, book 2 is my all time favorite book. Book 1 is okay so I don’t listen to it often. I do listen to this series every 2 years. The characters are wonderful. The history of the land and animals is fascinating. Ten stars!

Fun, funny and surprising

I enjoyed this book very much. It was refreshingly different from the normal mystery novel. The characters are lively. The outcome was unexpected. That, too, was refreshing. I was surprised at how contemporary the subjects were considering the characters ages. It brought to my awareness how much young people think old people are like vegetables. Once they are past their prime they go limp and are loose their flavor. That is not so! The body may not be able to keep up but the mind can still be sharp. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Sophie's world is enchanring

It still amazes me how wonderful the world in which Sopgie and her friends live in and yet the core of the story is still about the people. Growing up is hard but complicated even in a enchanting world. I can't wait to see where Sophie and her friends go next.
