Unique story with plenty of action
Revisado: 09-07-20
I really enjoyed this story, but be aware that the story doesn't end in this book. For me, this was a rather unique story which contributed to my enjoyment. The narration is good, but I feel it could have been better. The narrator at times seemed to get a little tired which caused her to just read some of the sections in a flat tone with no acting. However, I think she has great potential, and I do look forward to listening to the next book.

Light, fun story with great narration!
Revisado: 01-30-20
This light story was greatly enhanced by a great narrator! Cahill (narrator) made it easy to tell which character was speaking, and used delightful voices for different characters. I would definitely listen to another book by this narrator.

Historia
Errol longs for just a single day to pass that doesn't require him to put his life in danger. His desire for a respite, however, is complicated by two things: the arrival of a mysterious troupe of performers and the appearance of a bloodthirsty creature that kills its victims in a horribly gruesome fashion. Now Errol must determine what connection - if any - exists between the troupe and the killings, as well as find a way to stop the monster before the body count goes any higher.

This book starts where the last book left off. The characters have been developed enough by now that the story is easy to get into. I think each book gets better, so I enjoyed this one more than the first-maybe because I already know the characters.

Historia
Part lawman, part tracker, and part magician, the Wardens are monster-hunters - tasked with protecting the people from the various, nightmarish creatures that have invaded the world of men. For most of his life, 16-year-old Errol Magnus categorically rejected the idea of being a Warden. Growing up right next to the Badlands, he encountered enough bloodthirsty monsters in the ordinary course of events; he’d never seen much sense in assuming a post that required you to actively seek them out.

As a reader and listener of mostly hard science fiction, it took me a while to get into the story. But it's well done and captured my interest enough to listen to all 3 books. Each book gets better.

Remo Cobb was down on his luck before, but not like this. In the blink of an eye his flashy life of being a big money, heavy drinking, pill-popping attorney came to a screeching halt. After being fired from the highfalutin law firm following a violent altercation, his days of wheeling and dealing for the accused are over. Now, all he wants to do is pick up the shattered remains of his life and spend some time getting to know his son, but the law isn't ready to let him go. Not yet.

Better than the first one
Revisado: 12-04-17
Maybe it took some getting used to, but I enjoyed this second book more than the first one. The story was more interesting, and the main character became a bit more sympathetic. It's violent, profane, and action-oriented. Good fun if you're into reading about a seedy person doing seedy things, but then aims for a tiny bit of redemption.

Straight forward shoot 'em up
Revisado: 10-07-17
Very quick, simple read with a strange third person "observer" narrative. Straight forward action with some tough-guy humor, but no subtly at all.
If you're looking for a fast-paced, simple read to distract you for a few hours, "Remo Went Rogue" fits the bill.

Historia
Haunted by a life of violence and as proficient with languages as she is with knives, Vanessa Michael Munroe, chameleon and hunter, has built her life on a reputation for getting things done—dangerous and often not-quite-legal things. Born to missionary parents in lawless Africa, taken under the tutelage of gunrunners, and tortured by one of the jungle’s most brutal men, Munroe was forced to do whatever it took to stay alive.

Another wild and entertaining with badass Munroe.
Revisado: 06-24-17
If you could sum up The Doll in three words, what would they be?
Wild Entertaining Thriller
What other book might you compare The Doll to and why?
Hard to compare this to other books because Munroe is so unique. But perhaps the closest are the Beatrix Rose books.
What does Hillary Huber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She brings emotion and depth to a character that is so different that it might be difficult to form a good picture of.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, all the Vanessa Michael Munroe books are great!
Any additional comments?
Another wild and entertaining ride from Taylor Stevens. Her Munroe character is fascinating and complex: the product of a horrific childhood. Hillary Huber does a masterful job as the narrator of the Audiobook version. If you like complex, messy thrillers, I highly recommend "The Doll" and the other Munroe books and audiobooks.
