Historia
Recently retired, Denny Lambert is finding life just a little bit…well, dull. So when her stepsister Juliette announces she’s getting married – again! – and invites Denny on a hen do with the Old Ducks, Denny really can’t say no. Denny knows something about the Old Ducks and their wild exploits, but she’s just glad to be somewhere hot and sunny and away from her grey life back in the UK. She’s definitely not going to be pulled into any Old Duck mayhem. But when they arrive at their beautiful Mallorcan villa, Denny is in for a shock.

A little disappointing
Revisado: 02-12-24
I loved the first book, Old Ducks’ Club, and would highly recommend that one. I was really looking forward to this book but it lacked the character’s personalities, great storyline, and location descriptions that the first one offered.

Historia
Henry at Work invites listeners to rethink how we work today by exploring an aspect of Henry David Thoreau that has often been overlooked: Thoreau the worker. John Kaag and Jonathan van Belle overturn the popular misconception of Thoreau as a navel-gazing recluse who was scornful of work and other mundanities. In fact, Thoreau worked hard—surveying land, running his family's pencil-making business, writing, lecturing, and building his cabin at Walden Pond—and thought intensely about work in its many dimensions.

Fascinating and insightful look at the life of Henry David Thoreau. Caused me to contemplate my life’s work, to fully appreciate what I’ve done so far and how I move forward from here. I want to read again and make some notes.

Historia
Meredith May recalls the first time a honeybee crawled on her arm. She was five years old, her parents had recently split, and suddenly, she found herself in the care of her grandfather, an eccentric beekeeper who made honey in a rusty old military bus in the yard. That first close encounter was at once terrifying and exhilarating for May, and in that moment, she discovered that everything she needed to know about life and family was right before her eyes, in the secret world of bees.

Actually 3.5 stars
Revisado: 05-09-23
I would actually rate this 3.5 stars, as I had mixed feelings throughout. This is a wonderful story, beautiful setting, and intriguing characters. I enjoyed the developing relationship between Baxter, the widower, and his young daughter, Mia, as they navigate life without Sophia. However, it often moved along very slowly. Some of the dialog was immature and unbelievable. The ending was anti-climactic.

Historia
Like millions of her millennial peers, Rachel Held Evans didn't want to go to church anymore. The hypocrisy, the politics, the gargantuan building budgets, the scandals - church culture seemed so far removed from Jesus. Yet despite her cynicism and misgivings, something kept drawing her back. And so she set out on a journey to understand the Church and to find her place in it.

Did Not Like!
Revisado: 11-16-22
The narration by Abby Craden was annoying. She ended her words with a heavy UH: Sunday-uh, none-uh, him-uh! Listening to that for hours was almost unbearable. Coupled with the fact that I found the story boring, I skipped through several chapters hoping it would get better. It did not.
